Review SummaryWe were lucky enough to have been upgraded to the A3 Courtyard Villa rooms on the Norwegian Jewel. A full video tour is available here: http://revver.com/watch/709456.
From beginning to end we felt like rockstars. Upon check in we were greeted by the concierge and taken to a private welcome room to have our paperwork checked while we were treated to tea sandwiches and cookies. Our luggage was brought directly to our room where champagne was waiting on ice. Our butler and concierge were available to help us with any little thing we needed such as helping us make and change restaurant reservations, making sure my 2 year old daughter was never without bananas or chocolate.
There was rarely ever anyone else in the courtyard pool, sundeck, concierge room, jacuzzi or fitness center and we therefore felt we had them all to ourselves.
The food was good, not great- but the attention to hygiene and cleanliness was superior and the food was somewhat better in the restaurants than in the buffets. There are videos of the chocolate buffet here http://revver.com/watch/709414. It was worth keeping a 2 year old up waaaaay past bedtime!
The children's club was great for kids that are used to being away from their parents a bit. Lots of age appropriate activities and a great little indoor playground. The staff is incredible at working with a wide variety of children with varying languages and linguistic abilities and comfort levels being with new people (kids and adults) and new activities. Most of them were happy as clams and the staff was great with those who were having a harder time as well. They provide phones for pre-potty trained kids so that parents can be contacted on board ship if necessary but I would ask for one if I was a nervous parent as well just to know they could find me easily if my child was upset.
The main pool was great as was the kiddie pool. A little less music would be ok although the band was great- just a little too loud. All in all it was a great cruise and worth it for the upgrade if you can get it.
