OUR NORWEGIAN CRUISE WAS INFERIOR

Sail Date: December 02, 2007

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Balcony

Open seating was inconvinient becasuse we could not get reservations for 8 at the times we wanted. We noted there were empty tables of four, but the staff would not combine them. The lack of accountability by the servers led to POOR service, some even with an attitude. It was evident that the staff was untrained in such obvious ways as in the buffet, as we were eating and talking, they reached over us, serviced the ketchup, etc over our heads, and didn't even say "excuse me." A server in the Italian dining room talked back to us.
The so called day activities were nothing more than sales pitches. They obnoxiously sold raffles as we waited for the shows. It was loud, in your face, and constant. They ran out of food at buffet. The food was cheap, the only food that was abundant was pizza, inferior hambugers, and cheap fatty stuff. I could not find any white meat chicken, roast turkey, or even lean roast beef at the buffet. They were carving some kind of inferior beef.

Pros: BEING WITH FRIENDS

Cons: FOOD, SERVICE

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.

Service and Staff
POORLY TRAINED, SOME EVEN HAD AN "ATTITUDE"
Ship Quality
Only one pool, not enough deck space--common area was camped
Cabin / Stateroom
Good bathroom, cramped bedroom.
Entertainment
Only good show was their Cirque. That was EXCELLENT. The first night was awful, Second City was amaturish. A staff "talent" show is not an acceptable evening show.
Food and Dining
Very very very poor. Fatty and cheap.
George Town, Grand Cayman

Don't Miss: nice beach -seven mile beach
Cozumel, Mexico

Don't Miss: nothing-- we did have the one good meal on this vacation at a restaurant on land
