A nice cruise

Sail Date: February 25, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Suite

Norwegian Jewel is a lovely ship, mostly because of the great staff. Everyone was very nice. The ship is clean and well equiped with all the amenities one could wish. The nightly shows were very entertaining, and all but one appropriate for children. The dining options were nice, although the food was not outstanding.

Pros: the ports of call are great, the staff on the ship are consistently nice

Cons: food was only so-so

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!

Food and Dining
The French restaurant, Le Bistro, was very good. Avoid the Mongolian Hot Pot. There you cook your food in chicken broth and has not much flavor. Chin Chin, the Asian fusion restauant was also very good.
Cabin / Stateroom
We upgraded and the suite was absolutely wonderful, in terms of size and comfort. The bathtub and seperate shower had windows, so you could enjoy the beautiful scenery. The upgrade had added benefits of VIP extras.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Rent snorkeling equipment and spend the day relaxing on the beach.
St. John's, Antigua
We did a power boat snorkeling tour. The tour was nice, the snorkeling pretty good. We also found a taxi driver on our own who gave us a driving tour of the island for a reasonable price ($15/person). We met a few people who did the zip line tour and enjoyed it very much.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We took a taxi on our own to the Coral World. That way we could see it at our own pace. There is a beach right next to it, and you can rent snorkel equipment. The snorkeling was excellent right from the beach. The water was calm and crystal clear. This was the highlight of our trip.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Since we had spent a week there last year, we just wandered around Old San Juan.
