The ship was beautifully decorated and the staff was friendly and professional. The ship was also crowded and the staff appeared to be overworked (though this did not show in their attitudes). At the restaurants and buffets, no matter what time you went, it was hard to get in or get through. The sundecks were likewise crowded, though the saltwater pool stayed empty almost all the time (water was very cold).

On the plus side, there were some "nooks and crannies" on the ship where privacy could be had (besides on our balcony). One place was the wavy lounge chairs for two in the Spinnaker Lounge (not at night, though). The best kept secret was the availability of a day pass for the spa facilities. The spa had same-sex dressing rooms-- but there was also a relaxation room with large hot tub, beautiful views, and the most incredible lounge chairs... that my husband and I could share. Passengers could purchase single-day, three-day, or full cruise passes to the spa facilities. Highly recommended.

Food and Dining

We made reservations at several specialty restaurants on our first day of the cruise. Even so, we were not able to get our choices of restaurants and seating times. Azura, which was not a "speciality" restaurant per se, had the best food and the best ambience-- better than the premium restaurants. Cagney's was kind of loud and the steaks at our table as well as the table next to ours, were tough. Our neighboring table sent theirs back to be "butterflied."

Our Stewards were overworked but were trying very hard to please. We intentionally opted out of the turn-down service several nights just to give them a break!

Pros: Very Pretty Ship- gorgeous spa with wonderful relaxation room

Cons: Poor food choices on buffets and overbooked Specialty Restaurants

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!
