Could have been the best cruise ever,

Sail Date: November 12, 2006

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

The Jewel is a beautiful ship, with everything you could ask for in a cruise vessel, the cruise director and staff did an excellant job in providing entertainment on our cruise.
As I stated above, food service was a disappointment. Our first night we dined at the Garden, a buffet restrautant. The food was cold. This raised a concern with all the issues of people getting sick on board cruise ships. Meals that were order at the Tsar's Palace, Azure and Tango's also arrived to our table cold.
While the food was presented well, the quality was lacking. Shrimp and scallop had been frozen and were mushy, pork chops and steaks had been frozen and were tough. The only exception to this was a dinner at Cagney's, food was fresh and delicious, unfortunately this meal was the last night of our cruise.

Pros: The ship and itinerary were great, entertainment was good, good variety of excursions.

Cons: Food service was lacking in quality and taste.

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!

Food and Dining
See review above, food quality was a disappointment. Additonally we had booked reservations at Tango's and were disappointed to find ourselves being seated at the Blue Lagoon while guest arriving after us were seated at Tango's.
Ship Quality
The ship is less than 2 years old and is fantastic.
Cabin / Stateroom
We booked an inside cabin, and spent little time in it except to sleep. It was clean fresh and enjobable, the cabin steward did an exceptional job in making us comfortable.
Service and Staff
The cruise director and his staff did a fantastic job in providing entertainment. Mike the cruise director was fantastic in his presentations.
St. John's, Antigua
St John's was one of those "if you have been to one, you have been to them all ports". Much like you see on Western Carribean cruises.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
This was the highlight of the trip, beautiful city great people in the city. Had one of the best pizza's on earth at Amici's Cafe. We took the Ultimate tour, it was as promised, the scenery was breath taking.
Don't Miss: Don't miss seeing the city from lookout point.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
We did the rain forest horseback riding, great opportunity to see the country side as well as parts of the city on our trip to and from the ranch.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
A weather front had moved in the night before, so we were not able to snorkel as we had planned. Coming from Pensacola it was entaining to walk a coral beach area and we got several great photos.
