Review summary

It was overall a great trip. Personal were very friendly and helpful. Shows were good to great. Excursions were well organized. Ship was very clean. Infection control measures of the ship were outstanding. Hand sanitizers placed everywhere on board. Ship is very large, easy to get turned around. Freestyle dining was much better than set dining times especially when the excursions may have come in later than expected. Speciality resturants were difficult to obtain a reservation unless done the first night of the cruise for the entire week. Main dining rooms Azure and Zsar's Palace needed no reservation and were very good. Transport arranged through the Cruiseline from the airport to the port was a mess. Not enough buses available, Many names were not on the list for transport (0nly 2 of our 4 names were listed.) Ended up waiting 3.5 hours for more buses to come and transport us to the port. This was the last thing we wanted to do after traveling all night. Hopefully this has been worked out since we were the first cruise out of the Barcelona port this season.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food at the resturants was very good. Azure and Zsar's Palace was very good and needed no reservation. Speciality resturants were difficult to obtain a reservation. Would have liked to try a few more speciality resturants but objected to paying and extra cover charge per person for dinner.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were good to great. Stardust lounge was very large with comfortable seating. Able to see the shows from all the seats.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Rome was very crowded, people (tourist) everywhere. Did the classical tour which was very interesting. Would have loved to go inside the colluseum but do to time constraints and the many people in line this was impossible. St Peter's Basillica was incredible but again very crowded. Watch the pickpockets in these crowded areas. Tour guide utilized radios with ear pieces so that all could hear her discription of the places visited which was very helpful

Messina, Sicily

Tiormino was very pretty and interesting to see. Wine tasting and lunch were good.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

3 out of 5
Florence was good but by this time we were getting pretty tired. Might pace myself more next time and spend this day on the boat. Pisa was interesting,

Naples, Italy

Capri was pretty, Sorrento even more quaint and pretty place to see. Pompeii was incredible.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

Village of Saint Paul, a midevil village up on the hill was probably the quaintest and prettiest place we were. Nice half day excursion.

Pros: Free style dining was great, being able to go to one of the many resturants any time you want

Cons: Many of the resturants required a reservation. If this wasn't done the first night on board for all the evenings, reservations were impossible to obtain. A few of the resturants required a $10-$15 per person cover charge which goes against my grain when you are paying much for the cruise.
