I thought we had a fabulous trip. This trip was chosen due to its itinerary. The shore excursions we chose were all extraordinary. While the ship was fine, I am more of a Bells and whistles type of cruiser. I like all the glitz and glamour of a cruise ship which The Jade is not. With that said, The Jade's service, food and entertainment were outstanding. Would I come on board The Jade again , probably not, only because I like more #WOW.
Embarkation

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
On this 10 day trip, we had 4 specialty restaurants reserved: Cagneys, LeBistro, Tappanyaki and LaCucina. All were very good with my favorite being le bistro where I enjoyed the scallops For my entree, the escargot And Crab salad for my appetizers And a delicious dessert of ice cream stuffed pastries. We only had the opportunity to eat in the main dining rooms twice. Each time was good with no complaints. The buffet Was fine Which we used for breakfast Mainly. All the usual breakfast fare. We ate at The Irish pub Twice and it was good. The name of the pub escapes me at the moment.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Because we were off the ship and on shore excursions most of the time, The On board activities We're not a priority For us on this cruise. The Norwegian Jade is a nice ship, however if you are looking for the Bells and whistles, you will not find them on this ship. The Norwegian Jade is a very basic ship. No Wow features!! No water slides, no Rock climbing walls, No Ping pong tables. The Jade does have a shuffleboard court, a jogging track and A sports court Where mostly basketball was being played.. The fitness center looked very nice.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was superb!!! We saw 8 out of 10 shows. The variety was wonderful. Magicians, Singers and dancers , aerialists. Wonderful, wonderful entertainment.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of our interactions with waiters, Room stewards, and other ship personnel were Very professional And cordial. They all Gave me the impression They would go above and beyond To Accommodate My wishes.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Layout And design Could be better But I think with the limited space the ship is dealing with makes It difficult for the layout To be any different. The cleanliness of the ship Was Top notch.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The bed Was good, I slept very well every night. Storage space was good for 2 people. The cabin needs a dressing table Where A woman can put on her makeup . Cabin size was a little tight. We enjoyed the balcony immensely.
Ship tip
The Norwegian Jade is a fine ship. Good for adults Who are looking for a relaxing retreat. Don't look for The Bells and whistles And over the top pizzazz Because you won't find it. This is a great itinerary and stops at some fabulous ports of call. Enjoy your cruise and use the self disembarkation process at the end of your cruise.
A big beautiful city with tons of history. We had 2 days in Rome pre cruise and The first evening we had booked a Foodie tour which took us for pizza and gelato.
Excellent tour of night time Rome all lit up. The following day we hired a private Guide For 7 hours Who Showed us the highlights of Rome And educated us on the history of this Special city. We ate at some great Restaurants And ate some great food. No problems with pick pockets, etc. Italians are very friendly people
Santorini!! Where were all the blue domes? (like in the pictures) Still a beautiful little island With friendly people. A tiny bit too commercialized for me. We did an excursion through Norwegian cruise line called Greek style Celebration OPA Which I would highly recommend. We had a delicious dinner at an authentic Greek restaurant with Greek dancing and plate breaking. I loved Santorini.
We did a shore excursion through n c l Called the best of Athens and scenic coast which I would highly recommend. It included a lunch at a Authentic Greek restaurant with delicious Greek food. The walk up the Acropolis to the Parthenon Was hot and crowded though worth the climb. The Parthenon was beautiful!
We did not have a shore excursion planned for this port. We did walk around the port And up some of the side streets which were very quaint And picturesque.
We had a shore excursion booked through our travel agent Touring the town of Taormina. A beautiful, flower filled street filled with shops, restaurants, Cafes and people. The trip to the top Of the mountain is a beautiful and adventuresome drive.
We thought this was a beautiful port. We had a shore excursion Going to the Almalfi coast, Ravello, Positano, and Sorrento. Had authentic pasta at a restaurant in Ravello. Beautiful Little towns With lots of people at this time of year. What was I ever thinking When I decided to visit in August.
We had a shore excursion which took us to the leaning Tower of Pisa among other beautiful historic cathedrals. We were very cautious in Pisa, hearing that it was a sketchy area For pick pockets etc. We did not run into any problems other than the passive/aggressive vendors walking the streets carrying their goods. However, they were mostly harmless, just trying to make a living. We then were transported to a winery Where We were served a delicious lunch and many bottles of wine To sample. I forgot to mention early on, the name of this tour was Pisa and a taste of Tuscany. I believe put on by Norwegian. Excellent tour.
Thanks for the great review. We are sailing to many of these ports next September on NCL Getaway and can't wait. I appreciate all the details of the excursions. If you ever get to Santorini again the blue domed churches are in Oia.
