Review summary

This was the worst vacation of our lives. so much so that we are considering making up compliant forum website to give other a  people a voice and share there cruise nightmare experienced . The crew was not knowledgeable and was extremely rude. The food at the buffets was terrible. The shows were like a high school talent show.

It was both of our 50th birthdays and it was our 27th wedding anniversary. Our trip was ruined by both booking mistakes and the crew did not help us resolve anything and the non caring of  of the ship’s crew for almost anyone's concerns was terrible, We also discovered an internet scam the ship is doing by not have internet yet charging everyone for it. We think the entire cruise industry must be exposed for this scam. We videotaped person after person complain and nothing was done. We took video of both the people and how the crew dealt with this situation.

These were not just our observations we had asked other people on board if they were experiencing the same things and many of them said yes and had other stories. Like a $2,000 charge for seeing the ships doctor after experiencing food poising from the ships buffet.

We have a travel blog that gets over a million hits per month and we do not have a cruise section but we are considering putting one in. This was our first cruse and last cruise but this trip is our 49th trip to Europe and we extremely experienced travelers.  

When these concerns were brought up to the managers they did nothing but get us a reservation at one of the pay restaurants.

 We feel that you should all feel ashamed about this. The only redeeming quality was hat the locations were nice and the ship was clean.

Wow i have been on 10 cruises and never have that issue or heard of anyone with those issues. Feel sorry that you couldn't enjoy it :(

Just as well we are not all the same because people that talk rubbish like this about a cruise line such as ncl well let them go with other lines because they probably go about with long faces all the time as they are going to a funeral trying to pick fault and well I'm sorry but I don't want them on a cruise with me and ncl can also do without them so stop going to look fo faults and enjoy yourself a I always have done and always will do with ncl

Interesting, I have found Carnival to be the absolute worst. I have been on 3 Carnival cruises and had problems on all of them. I have received better food in a hospital than what I received on Carnival. The only issue I have ever had on NCL was a leaky bathtub which was fixed as soon as I notified the service desk.

Sorry your cruise did not go well.   One bad cruise on the bottom of the bucket cruise line is not worth giving up cruising.  There are a lof of good cruise ships and cruise lines out there.

 

If you try cruising again I agree with TheTAinSA,  try a good cruise line like Celebrity or HAL or even a boutique cruise line.  

 

I have done a couple dozen cruises and I'd rather go on Carnival then NCL,  I find NCL to be the worst for food and customer service.

Man this is sad.Norwegian has turned into one of the worst cruise lines since Frank Del Rio took over as CEO and I confirmed this when I was in the Jade in February. As experienced travelers I wish y'all would have tried a premium line princess or celebrity or a luxury line. Don't give up on cruising, just find the cruise line that fits your style.

Funny talking about Internet scams this looks like a money back scam to me I've sailed with ncl many times never been charged for anything i did not purchase found staff to be excellent and had a ball every time

In regards to the doctor's visit remember travel insurance is a cheap insurance against any issues. Also sounds like because of your booking problem you were mad from the onset of your cruise. We are going on our 14th cruise this October and have never had any issues. We learned that most issues related to cruising are self inflicted. Sorry you had a bad experince.

If the ship is at fault for food poisoning there would likely be no charge for the doctor. I seriously doubt, if it was food poisoning, that it was contracted from food eaten onboard. More than one person would have fallen ill and it would have been noticeable by all guests. It is more likely, if it really was food poisoning, that it was something eaten at Port.

Internet on cruises - can be hit and miss. We had good connections whilst near port. If you had booking issues were they directly with NCL or an agent. Lastly the fact that you stood videoing other people complaining about their problems - Scary. I don't think cruising full stop us for u

I've never heard of a ship charging for non existent internet. Crappy Internet but it was there. Sounds like there was a booking issue and the cruise was full so nothing they could do. Not enough info on who created the issue.

Wow, Info.. This is the first I heard of anyone experiencing anything like this. We're booked for the first week of Sept. I will be watching our charges closely. So far personally, I have been on 3 cruises. Two in the Caribbean and one to Alaska. Those were wonderful experiences. Now crossing my fingers that this one will be the same way. Thanks for your insight.
