It was bad enough to get left by the boat even though they had time to get us on, but NCL doesn't give you working emergency numbers for when you get overseas. We never even got an apology once we were on the ship. We were told a claim was submitted and they needed to hear from corporate. Days later we found out from a new guy that the claim number we were given was only to document what was going on. We needed to submit claim on our own which you are not able to do while you are overseas not he ship. We were given no reimbursement for our travel costs. Our luggage was damaged from the awful streets of Portugal. We feel blessed we had the money to get to the next port or we would have been homeless in Portugal. NEVER AGAIN NCL!

It's a lie even if you book with them they will leave you!!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Service was good and so was the food. Nothing special unless you paid good money. Multiple restaurants serving mostly the same food.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pool was emptied a day for painting during our sailing SMH. Weather wasn't good for outdoor activities. Hard to find place to sit indoors but as much as we enjoyed the indoor activities it didn't last long enough to make it worth the walk and standing time to find a seat.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The musical/dance show was good dancing and costumes but bad story telling. Some really nice entertainers though. Not great at what they do but we enjoyed them.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
I absolutely loved a handful of people. My family will forever say "Good Morning" in the sweet way we heard it every day. So many of the crew members were not very friendly. Then I saw one being treated really bad by a supervisor. So, we started asking them about the experience working there and we heard that same thing. "It's great until a supervisor come around"
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was clean and had some neat areas to look at. Not much to do on the upper decks of this ship. So much cost extra that it wasn't used like the arcade.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
I thought the cabin room was great. I loved the darkness of the inside room since we were 7 hours off our usual time zome :) Our housekeeper was fantastic.
Ship tip
Don't do a long cruise on this ship because there isn't that much to do.
Lisbon is dirty and if you get left at the port like we did you will be lugging your things up and down many stairs as the elevators and escalators frequently do not work.
Considering we had to find our own way and spent our time here in the early am til the boat came. Only an hour walk away is a dump of a coffee shop in the middle of the fishing pier that has fantastic coffee and friendly service. People were very friendly.
Excursion was cancelled but we did get out for a walk to find a mall that looked and had the same as we would have in america so we didn't find anything exciting. We did learn you do not pick stuff up to look at it. We wondered why everything was perfectly placed.
Wow that sounds bad! In 2016 onboard The Breakaway we were literally stranded at the beach in Tortola due to a huge car accident which closed off traffic in both directions. Those of you familiar w/ Tortola’s steep winding roads on the countryside mountains can relate. There were 2-3 ships docked at the same time & well over 600 or more passengers w/ no way back to port. Just crazy! I called the NCL the general number explained what was going on, they contacted the ship(s) docked & they waited for every passenger to get back safely. I was initially told that “NCL is only responsible for their booked excursions & nothing else”. I said to the rep, “clearly you’re not understanding the gravity here, no excursions at ALL will be returning back any time soon, bc it’s out of their control! The ship cannot leave & since we’re on a recorded line you are responsible for sending this message through, let’s try to avoid the lawsuit”. After putting me on hold 2-3 minutes, the rep got back on the line stating “the message has been sent to the Captain & the port authority”. The ships were notified & will not leave dock”! That was indeed a very different situation, but I needed to share as an example of what NCL did for their passengers. I’m not sure what your circumstances were, but the cruise lines are constantly advising the passenger to be prompt, since they cannot wait for a few people holding back the scheduled departure time. Apologies for the lengthy write up. All the best & happy cruising 🤩⚓️😎❣️‼️
I’d love the rest of the story here. What made you unable to arrive on time for departure? Are you on a short excursion provided by the ship? It seems as if you are blaming NCL and I would like to know how this is their fault? If you wouldn’t mind giving us the rest of the story it would be helpful. So sorry you missed the ship.
When you are in a port, they are very specific about what time you need to be back on the ship. They also remind you numerous times that you need to follow ship time which may be different from your watch, phone, etc. Why should a ship full of people be held up because you were late?
