Review summary

Very disappointed with the upcharges on NCL for almost everything. Normally we would get a free bottle of wine due to our status (Sapphire) when entering our stateroom. No more! Thank God we had free gratuities, otherwise it would have cost us $400-$20 a day per person. The food at the main dining room was not great to say the least. Their $10 shopping spree just went up to $15. I could go on and on but there was too much nickel and dimeing to mention. We are done after our next 7 day cruise with NCL so we can utilize our $250 voucher.

The cabin was very tight and hard to maneuver. The balcony was a joke. We had a hard time just crossing our legs compared to Royal Caribbeans balcony. The shower was also very tight and difficult to turn around. If you dropped your soap, good luck in trying to pick it up.

Ship tip

Go on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity instead. NCL is nickel and dimeing almost everything. $20 a day for gratuities! per person for gratuties!

@bubbles60 my husband and I are taking our Royal Caribbean cruise in August and since 2019 we have not cruised with royal. I shall see see what happens on this cruise for many reasons and I don't drink alcohol I don't drink the mocktails, I get the soda package and I will buy it before my cruise online when we look at excursions. We cruising from Bayonne New Jersey on Liberty of the Seas and I know I will have a good time and look forward to this cruise. Our last Cruise was on NCL getaway and we had a good time although we couldn't go to the private island due to high winds because the tenders weren't able to go there to the island and we were supposed to have an overnight Port Canaveral and that was taken away. Also, we were supposed to go to Virginia Beach and Bermuda that was taken away from the itinerary. All in all we did have a good time and we made it for ourselves.

I want to say that the people who work in the main gift shop work for Dufry not for NCL. NCL hires people through the company Dufry. This company is based in Switzerland and they have shops in airports, shops on cruise lines and anywhere else that they sell things for duty-free. Things have gone up and true about the champagne not being in the cabin but my husband and I even spoke about that. The 20% service charge for anything you buy like alcohol or soda if you don't have the drink package or the alcohol package yes you do have to pay 20% when you buy it. A surcharge is $20 a day for your restaurant department waiter, assistant and housekeeping department for their services and that money does get split. If people want to leave a tip before their services to their housekeeping cabin steward they can or after. Norwegian Cruise Line is freestyle dining so you will not get the same waiter or assistant waiters each time. Each Cruise Line as you know is different and we've cruised with Norwegian a lot and this past cruise March 18 to March 26th we made the best of it. We couldn't go to the private island due to high winds. On that note, we could not stay overnight in Port Canaveral which of course was disappointing. My husband and I took an excursion through the ship in Nassau called Discover Nassau Land by sea and we had a good time. This is how you make your vacation and just remember not every Cruise Line is the same. It is all

Sorry to hear of all the increases in charges but I agree Norwegian is one of the most expensive if not the top in daily gratuities. We sail them a-lot also and have been seeing the increases on their other ships as well. Hope your next sailing will be a great one. Enjoy.

You still get a bottle of wine at dinner not in your room. It used to be a bottle of cheap champagne in your room, but that stoped over 3 years ago. Most people didn’t like it so not a big deal. NCL is set up so you pay for what you want not nickel and dime. I would be upset if I had to pay for things I didn’t use. Sorry you didn’t enjoy your cruise. I don’t know any business that hasn’t raised their prices since Covid. Hope you have Fair winds and calm seas!

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry this NCL cruise didn’t meet the standards you expect from them.

Sorry you had a poor experience. On our last rcl cruise, they nickel and dimed more than ever before. It may be a post covid change in cruising.

Gratuities are built into your cruise pricing, bet in it.
