Review summary

This was our 9th cruise with Norwegian and our 1st time we have experienced any issues!  We were disappointed that we had to miss our first port, Ponta Delgada due to high seas but understood.  This however was only the beginning of disappointments we faced.  At next port, Brest France there were issues with the tides interrupting the disembarkation process as the steps had to be moved to a higher floor and there was only one stairway open at a time causing a 2 hours wait in line to get off the ship and then another  1-1/2 hour wait to get back on.  We were then notified that due to some technical issues the ship could not sail at full speed thus causing a delay in our arrival to our next port Southampton.  The ship would be repaired while we were in port; we would stay in port later than scheduled and as a result we would have to skip our next scheduled port Zeebruggee, Brusses, very disappointing.  Additionally, since the UK Immigration Officers were not able to board in Ponta Delgada as scheduled, we would all need to go through the customs process prior to getting off of the boat in Southampton.  This process took another 2 hour wait in line.  Since we bypassed Brussels we arrived in Rotterdam early evening the night prior to our scheduled arrival there. I truly felt bad for the crew as they took the brunt of the frustration from the passengers.  The crew was excellent on this cruise.  As for the ship itself, it was the first time that we'd been on a ship this size and found areas to be overly crowded at times even though we were not at full capacity.  The Atrium area is not large enough for the events held there as they were very crowded and very noisy which made it difficult to communicate with Guest Services, Shore Excursions, NextCruse, etc, which surround this area. O'Sheehans Restaurant surrounds the Atrium on the upper level and due to the noise level it was not an enjoyable area to eat.  The main theatre is not large enough to accommodate the amount of passengers on board thus we needed to find a seat at least 30 minutes prior to any show or presentation.  The other issue we noticed was that the hallways by the staterooms are quite narrow thus if someone is using a wheelchair or other assistive device they cannot get past the cleaning carts of the stateroom Stewards.  As I mentioned previously we were very pleased with the crew and found them to be very friendly and attentive.  We have already booked another cruise with Norwegian.

Our cabin was wheelchair accessible and was fine. Could use some shelves in the bathroom. Our cabin Stewart could use some improvement as he was not attentive and didn't seem to enjoy his job.

We had no immigration issues. We weren’t required to complete the custom declaration form and sailed right through!
