Review summary

The Gem is a comfortable and clean cruise liner. We have 6 people in our group and all said the food is great in all restaurants throughout the cruise. The fitness center is equipped with different exercise machines to suit everyone's physical requirement. There are many shore excursion selections to choose from with detailed description of each. The cruise staff members are very friendly. Our party of six really enjoyed the cruise.

Also will be on April 1st sailing on gem. Really excited. Gem is our favorite been on 6 cruises with NCL 3 on gem 2 on breakaway and one on pearl. Was really disappointed with the pearl. If we go back to Alaska we will choose another line. The gem is our absolute favorite. Crew was always amazing, friendly and professional. Recommended NCL to everyone we met due to the Gem. This will be the first time we have been on the Gem since Del Rio took over and we are praying that the ship won't be a repeat of our Pearl experience. Have not been hearing good things about him. Read a statement attributed to him given at one of the annual cruise industry conferences that they had to see how far they could push their captive audience. Needless to say, if true really off putting. That is an accurate depiction of how we felt on the Pearl. We are just hoping he hasn't ruined the Gem too. Can't wait to start another fabulous cruise on Gem

@Monika66,No I thought that too so paid for it before booked cruise,but then I went to go pay the travel agent for my cruise @ AAA & she told me we did not need them a birth certificate & Lincense would have worked,but they do recommend it in case of any problems on ports,peace of mind etc..If leave & come back in same u.s. port it is not needed

We leave on April 1 on the Gem. we have sailed many many times on Norwegian but first time in Gem. good to hear positive comments.. we are leaving from NY. are the seas usually rough going down?

I've been on the Gem 3 times. 2 nights to no where and one week to FL and Bahamas. Had a great time.
