Great price!

Sail Date: November 01, 2013

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Inside

Can't beat the price for our cruise, that's why we took it...
The GEM is a good size ship everywhere except for the pool area.
Entertainment was good and shore excursions were great as well.

Pros: Wonderful guest relations staff all throughout the ship!

Cons: Food quality could be improved - lack of space/chairs & in pool area

Recommends Norwegian Gem? Yes!

Ship Quality
The pool area was too small in the GEM. Definitely not enough room for all passengers to be in the pool - not sure if the waterslide is to blame for the lack of space/chairs. There are chairs on other levels, but then you're not close to the water & music.
We tried to sign up for the SPA, but when we walked in on sea day #1 it was just as crowded, so we gave up on that idea bcs we do not like to pay extra to be 'looking for a spot' to sit.
Food and Dining
IF we were to compare w/ other lines, I wish they served passengers in the buffet for the 1st 24h (to avoid sickness) then let everyone serve themselves for the rest of the cruise.

Unfortunately they do not 'prevent' on day one, so a lot of passengers got sick as the days passed. It is very uncomfortable to be on vacation worried that you could be next... It kind of makes you afraid to eat - and to me that takes away some of the fun and relaxation.
Cabin / Stateroom
Room looks good - attendant was great!
Service and Staff
Wonderful staff everywhere!
A bit new in the restaurants, but they were trying their best.
Entertainment
Except for the comedian, the rest of the shows were great!
Children's Programs
Activities very good
