Fabulous time

Sail Date: April 02, 2011

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Balcony

Our cruise was incredible! The staff was very nice, the staterooms were very clean. Our son and his friend (age 16) found other teens and had a blast! The teen club was to childish for this age group but they found other ways to entertain themselves. The only bad part of this experience was the buffet. You had to get your own beverages including hot coffee; there were a lot of kids running around who dont look where they run or who they run into. The staff should pour the hot beverages! Other than that we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this cruise.

Pros: Entertainment was wonderful, staff great

Cons: Buffet

Recommends Norwegian Gem? Yes!

Food and Dining
Food was good, the deserts were not the greatest. Freestyle dinning is a great concept but there were times when there was a 40 minute wait to be seated. That is not fun!
Children's Programs
The teen club was not age appropriate for teens 16 and up. They want to dance and meet girls; this club had too many 12-14 year olds running around. Our kids found ways to entertain themselves but this was a dissappointment for them.
Service and Staff
Ship Quality
Cabin / Stateroom
Wonderful shows, lots of activities for those who wish to participate/
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Great for a relaxing day. Parasailing very expensive for a 5 minute experience. The trip out on the boat was 40 minutes for a very quick turn. My kids were turned off and didnt want to bother doing it.
Nassau, Bahamas
Dirty city, shops expensive; you can get the same thing here and would do better with a sale and a coupon. Not worth buying anything. Local merchants pushy to take their tours. We did not feel safe and would not let our teens out of our site.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Excursions were expensive
