Review summary

If cruising on the Escape after June, make sure you stop by the 5:00 Somewhere outdoor bar and see Chips Ohoy. This was our 3rd cruise where he was a bartender and it’s never a dull moment!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze. We were dropped off at the curb, checked our luggage and away we went.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining rooms offered the same menus, nothing to exciting. LaCucina was disappointing, only Italian dishes really offered were spaghetti and pizza. Cagney's disappointed with the prime rib, but the 12 oz Ribeye more then made up for it.

The Bake Shop

4 out of 5

If you can’t drink the strong coffee they serve on board, this the the place to get a descent cup of Starbucks.

La Cucina

3 out of 5

For an Italian restaurant, only offered pizza and spaghetti for Italian dishes. Very disappointed.

District Brew House

3 out of 5

Looks like a dive bar you’d find on the docks.

Cagney's Steakhouse

3 out of 5

Disappointed in the prime rib, but the 12oz ribeye was awesome.

5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar

Chips the bartender is pure entertainment!

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Enjoyed The Choir of Man, but After Midnight was boring. Most of the singing performers on board could not sing, especially RJ who seemed to perform somewhere different each night. The pianos in the venues were extremely loud, which might have been a good thing, since they drown out the singers voices.

Spice H20

5 out of 5

The place to be during the day if you want peace and relaxation without kids around.

Escape Theater

3 out of 5

Much smaller then expected.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room was always clean, but compared to past cruises it took until late morning/ early afternoon before the room was made up.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Layout was ok, similar to the Breakaway/ Getaway. The common area bathrooms were usually clean, however on several occasions a few offered empty soap dispensers. Which is ironic since everywhere you go someone makes sure you “washy washy”.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabins were slightly smaller then on the Breakaway and this Spa Mini Suite with balcony is slightly smaller then the standard balcony room. Not a lot of storage space.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Took a tour of Daytona Raceway. Tram tour around the track, got to walk up the 13 degree bank at the start finish line and sign the checkered line.

Nassau, Bahamas

Pre-Purchased a day pass for the British Colonial Hilton for $200 for 2, with $40 food and drink credit per person. We had use of the private pool, beach, chairs and towels. It was a 10 minute walk from the ship and not over crowded.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Best disembarkation we’ve ever had. As latitud members we disembarke after those who carrie off their luggage. We walked off the ship at 8:00 am and by 9 we were heading home.
