Review summary

This was our first cruise with Norwegian.  I had read many reviews (all very mixed, as usual) and was pleasantly surprised by almost all aspects of our cruise.  The ship is very well-maintained (the Escape being their newest ship, as well) and was by far the cleanest ship we have ever sailed on overall!  The food in every restaurant (even including the buffet) was nothing short of AMAZING.  (I'm guessing those who rated the food poorly are among those type of people who are never happy until they've experienced perfection...which they never will!)  =)   The staff was friendly and always helpful.  The entertainment and cruise director was top-notch and nicely varies to please every member of our group of 9 ranging in age from tweens, teens, and 40-somethings.

My only "complaint" would be that we noticed the side-to-side sway of this ship much more than previous ships, probably because of it's height.  However, this was only a minor issue and would not sway us from cruising on the Escape again!

Roomiest cabin we've experienced yet!

Ship tip

You MUST eat at Margaritaville even though it's not one of the complimentary restaurants!! The Nachos are amazing and will feed at least 3 adults and are priced at $6!!

We booked an independent tour thru Godfrey Tours (online). This worked out seamlessly. Our first stop was the Gift Shop on top of the "mountain" (famous for it's Banana daiquiri's). This is by far the best place to purchase ALL your souvenirs. The selection was amazing, as were the prices! Also via the island tour we scoped out Magen's Bay, Coki Beach, and Sapphire Beach. Coki Beach was a total "no way" for us...tiny beach with zillions of people and local "salesman" hounding you from the moment we opened the van door! Sapphire was a bit more relaxed & laid-back but Magen's Bay definitely took the cake. Beautiful setting and large enough to escape the crowd if you were willing to walk a ways down the beach.
