NCL, the nickel and dime cruise

Sail Date: May 28, 2016

Reviewed: 5 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

the NCL Escape is a beautiful ship.  The waterfront is a enjoyable area and the ropes course is fun. The shows are very  amateur and the theater rather small for a ship that size.  Charges for everything!!!  Some of the bartenders need a class in diversity.

Cabin / Stateroom
Don't be fooled by the name mini suite, it is a mini room. Good balcony
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Embarkation was all right, It could've gone smoother based on the arrival time we chose (3:30). Disembarkation was a disaster! We selected the easy walk off and was anything but. It took us with luggage 45 minutes to get off the ship. There was no order to the lines and no one to offer directions.
Ship Quality
Need more public areas to put photographers. They block the walkways very often. Should not allow smoking in casino. Smoke permeates throughout the 6-7-8 area.
Destinations and Excursions
Not a great itinerary. Nassau is even more rundown than last time we visited. It was also Labor Day and everything was closed no dirty
Onboard Activities
Good variety
Children's Programs
Entertainment
Comedy show was good, but both main shows were (rat pack and after midnight) were rather amateur.
Service and Staff
Most crew members were great, but so busy because the ship is so full. Bartender Ruby saved our vacation after an unpleasant experience at another bar
Food and Dining
I like the smaller portion size. If you did not make a reservation, you either are waiting or changing to a different location. Not really freestyle.

Tip

Check for hidden charges. Book shows, dining early. Don't think you will get an elevator on the first try as they are always full.
