Review summary

This cruise docks in the Dutch Caribbean, West Indies, and both the British and American Virgin Islands. That's lots of islands and lots of sunshine. The ship (Epic) is huge, but that means lots of on-board activities.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The restaurants and food actually surprised us. We ate at four specialty restaurants. Each was unique and offered a distinct experience, but all four were special in its own way.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the dancers and musicians at the evening shows, especially "Howling at the Moon." On the down side, we were a bit disappointed at the Cirque dinner show. The meal was marginal; the show was the usual flying rings and acrobats. The venue left much to be desired. Sight-lines were poor and entertainers appeared to just be going through the motions of their routines. The little guy with the whistle just didn't captivate the audience.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Umar, was exceptional, always with a smile. If we asked him to do anything extra, we knew it would be done promptly and correctly. We also had the most pleasant and efficient server (I think his name was Butu) in the Manhattan dining room. We also want to recognize the young lady with the beautiful perpetual smile at the check-in desk for Taste. I think her name is Valarie.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship could use more common spaces for relaxing with a good book or simply people watching. But on the whole, it's a beautiful ship, and VERY CLEAN.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin appeared to be a bit tired and probably should be refurbished. However, it was clean.

Ship tip

Eat breakfast on Deck 15 at the pool. The buffet there has the same basic food as the Garden Room, but lines are much shorter.

Beautiful island. Be sure to ride the open-air taxis to the mountain lookouts.
