Overall we thought the ship was good. We had surprisingly NO PROBLEMS getting around on a ship of this size; didn't get lost at all. Staff was friendly but wait staff in Manhattan and Taste we found lacking a few times. Biggest issues with the ship itself were how teeny the room was and the mediocre food. We'd never been on a big cruise ship before (only cruise experience was a river cruise in The Netherlands a few years ago)\, so have little to compare it to. Decor was nice but was surprised to see how dirty the walls were in our room and the carpet likely needs replacement. I'd imagine it's difficult to keep carpet clean with so many people in and out all the time and very little time between guests to clean thoroughly. The walls around switch plates were quite soiled but other surfaces were very clean. Our steward was great\, took care of concerns quickly\, called us by name\, bed very comfortable. Lighting was dim in the room but pretty. Did NOT appreciate being left behind by the tour guide in a strange city when I got sick one morning. Entertainment was really good- variety and high quality. Cirque was great as was Blue Man Group. Loved that bowling was available and wish the hours of availability for that were more broad.

Food and Dining

Had read other reviews of the food and didn't expect much but was ok with it since we ate at least one meal off the ship and we thought maybe those folks were used to higher quality food so were perhaps more selective in culinary choices (we are). Others were right- the food was just ok. Best meal we had was at Cirque Dreams & Dinner and that was excellent. Selection of specialties is good.

Really nice level of entertainment. We saw Blue Man Group and Cirque Dreams & Dinner and they were great. Cool to meet some of the performers as well. Very happy bowling was onboard but was disappointed one of the alleys is only available really late at night (after 10:30 or 11pm?!)\, and the other didn't open til 10am. But we enjoyed the morning bowling at O'Sheehan's twice. We're early risers and would like to have bowled more. Awesome that it's available at all\, though.

Service and Staff

Drawer front came off almost entirely first time I used it. Called 00 and they sent someone to fix it while we were on an excursion. Steward gave us extra half & half when he noticed we used a lot of it for our morning coffee. He also called us by name after the first day\, and when we had a problem with our safe he called the appropriate person and it was handled within 20 min.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship size is H.U.G.E. But it is really easy to find your way around and I don't know exactly why that is. Must be the layout. We saw people cleaning\, cleaning\, cleaning the public areas frequently; pools drained & scrubbed\, hand rails\, doors in the corridors\, and so on. Public restrooms were nice & clean. Getting on and off the ship was smooth and staff again was friendly.

Cabin / Stateroom

We expected a small room and it more than exceeded that expectation. Wow. Decor was very nice\, contemporary\, we liked it. Bed was very comfy! Drawer front came off almost entirely the first time I used it but it was repaired quickly. Love having a safe in the room and loved being aft balcony: view was incredible and no wind\, and larger balcony than other rooms.

Pros: smaller towns\, bucolic scenery\, ancient cities

Cons: being left behind by the tour guide when I got sick

Recommends Norwegian Epic? No.
