7 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)
Sail Date: February 01, 2015
Ship: Norwegian Epic
Cabin Type: Balcony
Cabin Number: 11012
Traveled As: Couple

Ship was designed and built in France and Norwegian won't do that again.  All their new ships, Getaway, Breakaway etc.... are German.   The ship is big but big enough so there is room.   However, the ship is not laid out well with extremely small pools (just large hot tubs really)  due to design flaw in weight.  (Center of ship is weak).  Same problem does not allow any midship's elevators.  So, elevators are slow and crowed and there really  is no pool except for dipping.  Entertainment not nearly as good as some other Norwegian ships.   Food is excellent but you will want to spend 300.00 or so on specialty restaurants. (20-40 each)   Also, tips are added at 12.00 each per day.  With no excursions you will likely have a 500-700.00 ship's bill.  Check for available credits of 100.00 each plus 50.00 from Cruise first.   Despite the French doing their best to mess things up,  it was 86, sunny and perfect every day and you have 10 bars and 8 restaurants within 500 feet of your stateroom; what's not to like!

I blame Cruse First for not telling us. This cabin does NOT have balony. It has a porch. Nice area but with oval opening on steel wall. The reason is because it is too far forward. I have cruised 23 times and this is by far the worst "balcony" stateroom I have had. If Cruise First had been on the ball, they would have warned us away from crappy cabin. NEVER take forward side cabin.

Get hotel at Marriott and arrive one day early. It is much more relaxing and even if it snows where you are, drive south and catch a flight. The one day relieves much travel stress and room is cheap at 140.00 or so.

Falls are a must and ok for older and out of shape people. You can do it! We went river rafting since done falls often and it was great. Book with Cruise first rather than norwegian.

What a change from a few years ago Really improved with really great shopping. We did not get kidnapped or feel threatened.
