Room Type: Inside

We have been on two cruises before so we have some level of comparison. We found this ship to be too big and consequently, too crowded. My wife felt claustrophobic. You were always tripping on someone, or someone was tripping on you. The food was bland at best, and the restaurants that you had to pay extra for were not any better. There was not a standard show each night or set seatings for dinner so you were left on your own. It got boring. The internet service was a joke. You pay for a service that you can't use hardly ever. The cruise we were on was at capacity, but apparently the ship does not run well at capacity (e.g., internet bandwidth).

Pros: The shows

Cons: the food, the internet service, the unfriendly staff, the crowds, the kids, the lack of variety in activities, the lack of dress code

Recommends Norwegian Epic? No.

Ship Quality
We were told that this was a new concept on cruising ("freestyle"), but to me, it felt like a crowded dorm room with three out of 18 floors devoted to entertainment. The staterooms were very small.
Cabin / Stateroom
The beds were comfortable, but the room felt very crowded and tight. There were two of us, and we're not overweight, but we kept bumping into each other. Space efficiency trumped guest comfort. The hallways were very narrow. You had to step aside to let someone pass.
Food and Dining
Limited selection of foods; it was the same thing every night. This is true in both the specialty and standard restaurants.
Service and Staff
The staff were overworked and unfriendly. Their fatigue was evident. Even though the ship was at capacity, the staff should have been able to handle that since it was the "capacity" of the ship.
Entertainment
The shows were top notch, particularly the blues band and the piano man (James B.). The fact that ticketing was required was annoying given that you shouldn't have to stand in another line to get a spot to be entertained.
