Great courtyard, humdrum cruise

Sail Date: March 26, 2011

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

way too many people for the space. Not enough daytime spaces. Everything is geared for the evening drinking and gambling scene. Terrible shopping onboard. The private courtyard area was excellent in every way, and would recommend this area only.

Pros: the private courtyard area

Cons: the lousy ports and short hours there

Recommends Norwegian Epic? Yes!

Ship Quality
wear and tear noted already on such a new ship. Tiles were coming up around pool, veneers peeling up around sinks.
Food and Dining
plenty of variety, but even the specialty restaurants lacked character. They were good but nothing special.
Entertainment
Cabin / Stateroom
courtyard suite was beautiful, but small in comparison to other lines.
Service and Staff
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
not too many hours at this port, so we missed shopping in the afternoon. Wasted our morning at a nasty beach.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
basically a slum. Very worn out. Do not go into town after lunch, everything is closed on the French side. (Taxicab driver told us this only after we had arrived to a ghost town.)
Nassau, Bahamas
The town area is ok. We were taken to Cabbage Beach. Big mistake. All I heard the entire time was hawking of banana boat rides, hair braiding and jewelry. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation.
