Big ship with LITTLE character-

Sail Date: July 01, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Balcony

Very disappointed. There is nothing "free" about "freestyle cruising." They nickel and dime you to death from the moment you enter the ship. The ship had no character, everything was new and clean, but there was nothing extravagant.

Pros: Entertainment- first class shows, music

Cons: Way too many fees and charges, service is average and ship centers around casino

Recommends Norwegian Epic? No.

Food and Dining
There are limited selections of food without a COVER CHARGE. Any of the nice restaurants require additional charges of $10-25 dollars, then there are additional charges after you go like an extra $3 if you order expresso, or an extra $10 if you order lobster. Its ridiculous.
Service and Staff
Service was never bad, but it was also never exceptional. The food service was often slow.
The only example of truly poor service was in the casino where the poker dealers are simply aweful.
Ship Quality
The ship is huge with 19 floors, but in reality most floors are filled with staterooms. There are only 3 decks inside the ship that contain "stuff to do" and one of them is completely occupied by the casino.
Cabin / Stateroom
Poor design, no privacy in the shower or toilet. Sink is too small and spills water everywhere.
Entertainment
Entertainment is world class, the best Ive seen on a cruise ship.....Blue man group was basically same show as in vegas- Awesome. The blues band and piano bar were fun also.
Avoid the cirque dinner show- its chaotic and the food is aweful.
Children's Programs
Decent kids programs with multiple age groups...
