Going to be in a suite out of Puerto Rico in march 2019. i have noticed most people suggest booking excursions not thru the boat due to cost. Would that still apply if we are in a suite and get $50 off any excursion per stop? Or are the ship excursions typically more than $50 more than ones booked elsewhere? Thanks.
Did the 10 southern trip from San Juan to Tampa in early January. This was my first time sailing NCL as my simular cruise was cancelled due to carnival leasing the fascination out to FEMA. I must say I really was impressed with the Dawn. The ship is refurbished at the decor is clean and sleek. All speciality dining venues were awesome! However, dinner in the main dining rooms really needs improvement. Food was bland and tasteless. Service was great from bartenders to our room stewart.
I just got off my third cruise on the Dawn to Bermuda! I love the size of the ship as it is just right for me and my 15 year old. Already booked again for his 16th Birthday as we celebrated his last 4 birthdays on cruises! The teen club is wonderful. I love the aft/balcony rooms!
Had an excellent time on the Dawn in March 2018. The detail for cleanliness was amazing. Staff was excellent. Food was excellent although I am not a buffet guy. The Aqua and Venetian are amazing (Venetian window view is my favourite). Specialty Restaurants are worth the price upgrade as they were great experiences.
Entertainment was first rate each night in Stardust Theatre. Other venues had great professional entertainers too. Cruise director and assistant CD were great.
Embarkation and debarkation were flawless at Tampa. Muster is done simply and efficiently while we are all seated comfortably in the main dining rooms.
Discovered the best server I have ever had in any restaurant. Putu in Venetian is top notch and should be training all the others on the ship.
Highly recommend the Dawn.
Wanted to try a smaller ship after sailing the Epic and Breakaway. Never felt crowded did not have trouble finding seats, nice not having to reserve seating for the shows. Not a god ship for older children not enough to keep them entertained.
Overall was a positive experience except for the constant attempts for cruise staff to provide you additional ($$$$$) services, for a fee of course. Also was a little irritating how NCL would nickel & dime you for basic amenities. You really need to charge for the fitness center.
Once on board, the experience is good. Variety of entertainment, good food, and a lot of fun. The ship claimed to be sold out, which is believable because sea days were extremely crowded. Hard to get tables at the buffet, hard to get chairs on deck, etc.
