avoid the buffet for lunch and dinner..food sucks and you will probably get sick..at breakfast they use sow belly for bacon..poor quality..not like any other Norwegian cruise..we had 10 so far...buffet supervisor needs to be fired...now!!!! I bet there is allot of not reported food poisoning for fear of being quarantined to room...or novo virus...
ANNIHILATED A 42nd ANNIVERSARY...read the review comments and just set reasonable expections...dont look at the pictures in the Venetian(think GRAFFITTI artist gone wild)...the execs should get up and take a cruise and/or hire someone to just LISTEN to the conversations all around where ever they sit...secret shoppers would be nice...and with all the technology and just in time delivery, one would think NCL would use both, to do a DEMOGRAPHIC study of their incoming passengers...a head chef from India was a major clue that the menu would be trying...and it was...
We anticipated this cruise for almost a year and it was quite disappointing. We have cruised with NCL many times and have noticed the cut-backs over the last few years. The people working on the ship are always wonderful but they must be frustrated. It seems that they are hiring fewer people who have to work a lot harder during their contract. We are hoping that NCL listens to their customers and improves their quality of food and service. We realize they are pumping a lot of money into their new ships, but at the cost of their loyal customer base.
ncl was one of my favorite cruise lines, been on dawn 3 times, jade 1 time, getaway 1 time, love the freestyle cruising..however after this trip they are no longer my 1st choice.. the food was not good at all in most venues.. I think ncl is trying to get everyone to pay extra for specialty dining.. everything on ship was very clean and well maintained as far as I could tell.. cabin was very comfortable.. embark and disembark was very bad.. over 2 hrs each.. service was good... over $3 for a pepsi and no coca cola products on board at all... and not allowed to bring one with you..
Loved the ship. Liked the ports and despite embarkation problems would probably cruise with Norwegian again but would probably book a better cabin. Booked this cruise on short notice and ended up with an "obstructed view" cabin. I was worried that a 10 day cruise would be too long but in the end, if I could have gotten a good price, I would have stayed aboard for the next cruise.
This was absolutely one of the worst cruise i have ever experienced. Talked to a couple one night in the dining that had cruised 131 times and this was the awefulest cruise they had been on. They agreed this was their last Norwegian cruise also. Actually everyone we spoke with and ask their opinion was not happy with Norwegian at all. I feel as if my time and money were wasted with this cruise. If you chose to go to the pool while at sea you could not get a seat because of persons going out at 6-7 a.m. and laying their towels in the chairs just to have a seat by noon. Any other curise ship i have been on had music playing out by the pool by 10 a.m. but not this one. You were lucky if you caught the band up there. This thing they call free styling for dining was awful too. All those old people went down an hour before dinner to get in line and by the time you got there at 5 p.m. your dining time the line was absolutely an hour out. I believe from expierence on other cruise lines the assigned tables and dining times worked better. I never seen anything like this dining. We truly made out own fun. This cruise line was awful !!!! Never had such a bad experience cruising. Everyone we talked to advised Royal Carribean.
Worst food and entertainment on any of the dozens of cruises I've taken. Service ranged from good to indifferent. However, the great price and good ports made up for the poor food, terrible entertainment, and indifferent service
Our flight arrived in San Juan about 3 pm and we boarded the ship about 3:30, hungry and tired. All services and dining options were closed due to the mandatory drill at 4:30. The ship didn't leave port until 9 pm and passengers only had to be on board by 7 pm. We don't understand why the mandatory drill was done when all passengers weren't on board, and inconvenienced us as we were not able to dine after being in flight and airports since 4 in the morning.
Overall good trip, I wish the food was better and the enterainment was better. I have travelled with three different cruiselines and the thing that bothered me was the cruise was trying to sell me something at every corner. It was starting to get annoying, I was there to relax. I will mostly not come back to Norweigan.
There were multiple family reunions some things were so crowded it was impossible to participate in, lines for the buffet was hectic, kids running through areas they shouldn't be running through. Unfriendly uncooperative staff. Paying everyday gratuities yet being charge gratuity every time I buy a drink or order room service on top of what you've already paid. Just not happy this time around. I expected more Norwegian.
