Review summary

Why aren't these kids in school?! 400 people under the age of 18! Pool and spas were unusable due to swarming kids. Food was so-so, especially the buffet. Crew was great! Friendly and courteous especially the folks at the wine bar. Room was nice and the steward was good. Ship was quite crowded and tight. Shows and entertainment were excellent and on-board music was very good. This cruise was probably OK for some folks but not for a quiet couple like us; we probably won't return.

I'm with you love kids but I rarely use the pools because it is usually packed with kids. I make sure we cruise during times school is in and no break times. They'll always be there but you can try to avoid most of them.

Since Christmas is very expensive, parents are trying to work in the break times for a cheaper trip. It makes a huge difference when you're paying for more than 2 people. For 3 of us over Christmas break it was $4000. That's why families are hunting the break deals.

We always cruise in February, very few kids! I work with kids and have kids. Our yearly cruise is just for my husband and I, so we prefer to cruise when there are few children on board!!

Parents are trying to take advantage of the time off from school. October is fall break month and March / April is spring break. If you wanna cruise child free try September, January or February. Families have to pay for those kids so the cruise lines cater to families.

Why aren't kids in school? Could be the only time parents can get time off...could be a home schooling group...could be passengers from a foreign country and their children are on break....could be a child's Make A Wish.... The problem isn't so much the kids but the parents who let the kids run wild. As stated above Celebrity will have fewer kids and it is very relaxing.

My suggestion is do like me and sail Celebrity. You will find very few kids If any, and it is a much more relaxing cruise line. I sailed on the Dawn in July. I can say it was my first and last on NCL. The pool was like a scene from Animal House. I guess I'm getting to old for all the craziness, I'm in my 50's. Anyway that's why you have a variety of cruise lines. Cheers.

I just went on carnival sunshine same thing its not the kids its the parents that all if a sudden on a cruise let them do whatever they want was a nitemare going on the dawn fri hope no kids

For some people it is just called a vacation. They should also be able to enjoy themselves. The problems are that on the Dawn there are two pools, one a kid's pool that no one uses. The other problem is parents that let kids run wild. And yes, I am one of those people that complain about screaming babies in a restaurant and especially parents that put them in that situation.

Its called a family vacation. So there were kids. Who cares. Make the best of the situation and stop complaining. Youre probably the same people who complain at a restaurant about a kid or baby making noise. Just stay inside
