Freestyle doesn't have to mean dirty but it does.

Review summary

Cagney's is supposed to be a step up for dining on this ship.  That is why you pay extra to dine there.  For my extra one hundred dollars and dressing up for the occasion, my wife and I were seated next to a group of people who feel that Freestyle means coming in wearing dirty shorts and t-shirts that smelled!  Attention NCL!  Seat your Freestylers on one side of Cagney's and those who dress up on the other side.  Also, don't serve me the same cut of meat that I can get in the free dining area and then charge extra to dine in Cagney's!  Your entertainment is an absolute joke.  The Second City show sucked.  Also, on the Carnival Dream, the bow of the ship was not restricted access.  You limit access to wayyy too much of the ship.  We were given mail the entire week that had someone else's name on it.  The cabin was dirty on check-in. There was mail left in the room that was directed to the staff and we got to read their complaint card because it was not picked up before we got in the room.

Lousy cruise - start to finish.  The next time I want the same experience, I will just sit in my local mall for a week straight at Christmas time and let myself get trampled.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Nasty- seated next to people who smelled.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The main pool was as low as 50 degrees and was never heated yet on the channel 2 tv it listed it was 84.2. No way was that 84.2 - more like 54.2.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Comedy and magic was lousy.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
1am curfew for the 13-17year olds? What? Even the 7-12 year olds on Carnival have no curfew.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Complained about above smelly people and it fell on deaf ears.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Dirty everywhere. Salt and pepper shakers were not at each table for dining. That is like doing your business only to realize the toilet paper is out. What a joke. No attention to detail at all.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Dirty and items left from previous cruise people. Towels often not replaced when they were clearly on the ground.

Ship tip

Simply stay away from NCL all together. The best ones to go for are Princess and Celebrity.

You sound like a lot of fun.

sorry your cruise sucked but you make your cruise. My family always dress for the specialty dining and quite frankly we do it for us. what the people at the next table are wearing does not make or break my meal.

I think we are on the same page... business casual is not a suit... pair of nice pants and a collared shirt is my definition of business casual... maybe a sport coat if it's chilly but nothing more than that The French restaurant required a little more dress up

I would not dress business casual in Cagney's. I can dress Smart Casual and look nice. I would not wear a business suit. One of the paid venues you have to dress a bit more upscale. We ate in Cagney's on the Norwegian Spirit and I wore smart casual. I looked very nice. I think if not nice that people come in wearing shorts a T's. We don't eat at the paid venues because we pay money to eat in the dining room and like eating in it for breakfast if possible and dinner most times.

We were not the Dawn in August and it was awrsome. Food was great, staff was great. our room was clean and neat the.entire week. Cagneys was.our favorite restaurant. sorry your cruise sucked(according to you) but you can't please everybody. looking forward to going back on her in September to Bermuda again.

They actually have a dress code for the Specialty Restaurants.... business casual. But you are absolutely correct about them not enforcing it and it really diminishes the experience
