Last Fall we took the Spirit and found it had great staff. The staff on the Dawn\, however\, were below average. In the Venetian dining room\, several waiters reached across the table in front of guests to deliver or retrieve dishes. Our cabin steward was the worst we ever had. He always looked and acted as if he did not want to be doing his job. He never greeted us when we were walking down the hall. Once\, as we were walking to our stateroom\, he was coming out. When we were two doors away he pulled the door shut and walked away. On every other cruise ship under such circumstances\, the steward would greet us and keep the door open. Stewards have even walked to our cabin door and unlocked it for us when they were in the hall and saw us coming\, even if they were not at our cabin. Overall\, the staff was the worst we have ever encountered on a cruise. I blame the Hotel Manager. He was quite friendly\, greeting passengers. But\, he did not do his job of making sure his staff performed well.

The room had deficiencies when we first went in: the balcony door was off the track\, one drawer would open only half way\, the safe wouldn't open after we locked it\, and the vanity light was broken.
