Cruising the Norwegian Dawn

Sail Date: April 01, 2006

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first time onboard the Norwegian cruise line.
We didn't know how it would compare with the other lineswe had sailed on. We were pleasantly surprised.
Although we did have to wait nearly two hours to board the ship,we managed to enjoy every aspect of the sailing experience.
There was always upbeat music playing by the pool.
We didn't get to try all of the restaurants onboard.
We did try the Venetian which was our favorite, the garden cafe, Sala and Aqua.
The food was great.
Entertainment fun.
All in all, a good value.

Pros: Freestyle dining at the Venetian Restaurant, it was great not to have to eat at a specific time

Cons: Way too many kids onboard-it was the April school vacation week, they got a little loud at times

Cabin / Stateroom
we booked two oceanview staterooms and we found them to be very comfortable.
The rooms were always clean and well stocked with towels. We were happy with our accommodations.
Service and Staff
The ship's staff were very friendly and helpful.
The waiters especially. We were so impressed with how attentive they were.
We have nothing but wonderful things to say about all those hard working people.
Ship Quality
The ship was very pretty. My family found it easy to find our way around. It was always very clean.
Children's Programs
My kids only went to a couple of activites.
They did enjoy the ones that they attended.
We sailed during Easter and they had a family easter egg hunt which was pretty fun!
Running all over the ship getting clues and eggs along the way.
At the end, we were rewarded with a cute stuffed bunny and a photo with the bunny.
That was pretty nice.
Entertainment
We enjoyed a nice show every evening. There was always something to interest us.
The magic show, Eddie Holman (the singer of "Hey there Lonely Girl" was onboard and we got to meet him and have our picture taken with him. That was pretty cool.
Bollywood was another great show onboard, it was amazing!
We also got to see a movie onboard, it was quite entertaining.
Food and Dining
We really enjoyed dining in the various restaurants onboard. Our favorite was the Venetian. We enjoyed Salsa and Aqua as well. For breakfast and lunch we dined in the garden cafe. They make awesome omelettes there and the menu always had something for everyone. We loved the m&m chocolate chip cookies that they had in there!
Service in the dining room was excellent! No complaints whatsoever!
