Not So Freestyling Cruise

Sail Date: November 29, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Overall the ship was clean -- with hand sanitizers every 5 feet. The decor was more informal than we had encountered on previous cruise lines. The accomodations were also a lot smaller than on other cruise lines.

Pros: The Casino

Cons: Cramped Quarters

Recommends Norwegian Dawn? No.

Cabin / Stateroom
Small, Small, Small. We had a balcony suite that was so small that two people could not walk around in the room at the same time. The bathroom was so tiny that it was hard to turn around with the door closed.
Service and Staff
Overall the staff was friendly, but we did encounter a few with quite negative attitudes.
Entertainment
Loved the Bollywood show ... hated the comedian.
Ship Quality
The Ship was very clean. The decor was very informal.
Food and Dining
The food was average. The only benefit was the freestyle dining hour -- no set time to have a sit down dinner.
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.
The Virgin Gorda Baths was lovely -- small and hard to access.
Don't Miss: snorkeling at the Baths
Cayo Levantado (Samana), Dominican Republic
Litter strewn island with only a pretty view of the harbor to offer. No shopping to speak of -- aside from one small hut selling souvenirs at twice the normal price.
Don't Miss: view of the harbor
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Beautiful harbor. Lots to do.
Don't Miss: Coral World -- especially the Sea Helmet Trek
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Confined to a small area of the island, the beach and the water were very crowded.
Don't Miss: snorkeling
