Review summary

Large ships like the NCL Dawn are difficult to get on an off. Young adults running around without any hint of supervision was a serious problem. Allowing groups of young adults to openly intemidate passengers was a very serious problem. Charging for food when the food for the trip was prepaid was outragious. Constant adds for on-ship stores showed on three of the TV channels at times when all other channels were off the air is an insult. I will never cruise with NCL again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food in the "free" areas of the ship was good to poor. Foor in the $20 per passenger cover charge areas was good. It is outragious to have to pay an additional amount of money for good food when presumably the food was prepaid as part of thje trip.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was the high point of the trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Poor quality beds, but well desinged rooms with good air conditioning.

Ports of call

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

3 out of 5
Beaches closed due to heavy surf - not the fault of NCL.

Samana, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Don't Miss: Caves and mangrove forest. Long trip but well worth it.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
Beaches closed due to heavy surf - not the fault of NCL. Most of the interesting trips were cancelled.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

3 out of 5
Good day and well planned except for tender operation. It was poorly organized and confusion due to the lack of the right color of tender tickets.
Don't Miss: Hike to the lighhouse.

Pros: Private cay - Stirrup Cay

Cons: Lack of NCL supervision over passenger security and having to pay a cover change of $20 per person for decent food.

Recommends Norwegian Dawn? No.
