Norwegian Dawn Bahamas/Bermuda 7 Day

Sail Date: August 25, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Oceanview

I felt the ship was beautiful but way overcrowded. I didn't feel that there was enough guidance once you were on the ship to help you with how things work. Freestyle dining wasn't what we thought, reservations were difficult to come by and many nights we couldn't go where we wanted.

Pros: Leaving out of NYC

Cons: Service was lacking.

Recommends Norwegian Dawn? No.

Ship Quality
The ship is very large, a little difficult to find your way around, decor is very nice, ships cleanliness was good but did see windows and areas that could've been cleaned.
Food and Dining
Food quality was ok, buffet was boring and felt very much like a school cafeteria, chaos is putting it lightly. Dining was more difficult than we had anticipated, also don't care for the $20 cover charge in many of the restaurants. We saved long and hard for this vacation and then to have to pay for some of the meals onboard was disappointing.
Cabin / Stateroom
Rooms were smaller than we were used to but the room steward was very attentive and our room was kept clean and comfortable.
Service and Staff
Not a lot of willingness to go above and beyond on this ship. The built in service fee per day discourages that over the top friendliness and willingness to help. The staff doesn't have to really earn your tip!
Itinerary was good but more time in Bermuda would've been great. I wouldn't get off the boat in Nassau or Great Stirrup Cay again.
King's Wharf, Bermuda
Bermuda was the best port for us, went to Horshoe Bay via bus for the day and that was the most enjoyable day for us all. We were a group of 11 (3 families) and we all felt the same way. Wished we were there longer.
Don't Miss: Horseshoe Bay!
Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau was a waste really. Did a snorkeling exursion that was not what we thought, got taken out in the ocean and had to jump off the side of the boat to snorkel. Difficult with children and the 3 hour trip turned into an all day event!
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Island isn't really that nice, no chairs were left to sit on and it the heat was brutal! Waiting for the tender boat leaving and coming back was way too long and way too hot. Food was nothing to rave about there and felt very disorganized like in the ships buffet.
