We sailed the Norwegian Dawn on a 7-day itinerary from the Port of New York to Bermuda and the Bahamas. This was our third Cruise, but first with NCL. We would sail NCL again, although with a different itinterary. The Port of New York was convenient for us, as it was just a short flight from where we live. The days at sea are relaxing and nice, but we found we had more than enough time on the ship, and only a short time in port.
Food and Dining

The steakhouse and french cuisine restaurants were excellent. The taste and quality of the food in the main dining rooms was not as good as expected. It was nice to be able to grab a bite whenever we were hungry, and to be able to go to dinner at any time we chose. Reservations for the specialty restaurants are a must (and should be made as soon as you board - the reservation line is not a good idea, report to the reservation desk instead), and the two I mentioned above are worth the extra cover charge! Freestyle dining is a great concept!

The staff were very friendly - - we had a cocktail waitress in the lounge the first night, and had only 2 drinks, but when we returned the second night, she sought us out, remembered our names and our drink orders! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The ship was clean and the dining rooms and other public areas were well designed. The one drawback was the "saving" of deck chairs by the pool - - this is more a manner of common courtesy than cleanliness, but it was a bit frustrating that not everyone was able to enjoy public areas because people would try to save chairs for family and friends that did not return for hours, if at all.
Cabin / Stateroom

The rooms were comfortable and roomy - we had a superior balcony. There was a separate lavatory and vanity area, as well as a roomy bathroom - - there was even a bathtub/shower, instead of just a shower stall! The room was always clean and tidy with fresh fruit. It took us a couple of days to realize there were coolers in the hall containing ice for the ice buckets in the room. Our stateroom had a fully stocked mini-bar/refrigerator, separate sitting area, and a comfortable balcony.

Cons: The food in the general dining areas was not as good as anticipated
