Review SummaryI was pleasantly surprised with the condition of this old ship. We did have a balcony suite which was much nicer than expected - with many little perks. The buffet food was just plain boring - exactly the same at all breakfasts and lunches. The dining room food was so so and service very ordinary. The Bistro was wonderful but it is sad you have to pay $20 each for a good meal. One excellent plus was the freestyle dining ashore coupons. We were a party of 10 and it is amazing the wonderful assortment of food we were able to get with $500. Again it is too bad you have to eat ashore to get a good meal. Our wine was confiscated from our luggage - my first time in 48 cruises! Not a nice way to start a cruise. Our drink bills were large enough onboard to begrudge us a predinner glass of wine brought from home. Most of the crew were just delightful but we were not inclined to add more tips above the "service charges" automatically charged to our shipboard accounts. One of our suites had a nasty stale tobacco smell when we boarded. It was sprayed, carpets cleaned, fans installed, etc. etc. but to no avail. Smoking should be banned from all cabins!! The smell of sewerage was present alot of the time too - time to sell this poor old ship!! Being with my 4 kids and spouses and my sister was the best. Being in a suite certainly helped us get a table together both in the dining room and other dining venues. Of course, we paid for these benefits!! Will probably not cruise NCL again. Will sail to Bermuda again though.
Pros: Our suite
Cons: The food
