The Haven on the Breakaway is exceptional, and if you're looking for a luxury vacation, I highly recommend it. Without fail, the Haven staff were superb. Notable standouts were our butler, Stefan Lojanica; our steward, Ronaldo Clamor; the maitre d of the Haven dining room, Cielo Rojo; Bowen, the Haven Concierge; and Rogelio, the Haven sun deck attendant. Collectively, they made an otherwise great trip perfect. The Breakaway is also a great ship with lots of activities.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
As a Haven passenger, we got on the ship very quickly. Only knocking off one star because the Haven signage was difficult to find, and if we hadn't asked someone, we likely wouldn't have found it.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was absolutely spectacular. The Haven dining room, in particular, was excellent. If you haven't tried Ocean Blue, I'd highly recommend it!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
You'll never run out of things to do on the Breakaway. Our particular favorites were the waterslides, video arcade, bowling in O'Sheehans, and, of course, Bingo!
Entertainment
We didn't attend any of the shows.
Children's Programs
Didn't have children with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Without exception, the staff on the ship were excellent and served the NCL brand well. In particular, Stefan Lojanica, our Haven butler, was exceptional. Responsive, friendly, and extremely professional. Our steward, Ronaldo Clamor, was a ray of sunshine who made sure our room was always spotless and that any issues (e.g., burned out lights) were fixed promptly. Cielo Rojo at the Haven dining room took extra care to make sure everything was perfect for us – and her team at the Haven dining room were arguably the best on the ship. Bowen, the Haven concierge, was a total pro. Across the board, the staff were absolutely top notch and really made the experience special for us.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Loved the ship, and the common areas were very well maintained. Our only "design" complaint would be the setup of the elevators. When you're staying in the Haven on Deck 16, it could easily take 7 or more minutes just to get down to or up from Deck 6.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The Deluxe Owner's Suite is the largest room on the ship, and I found it to be spacious and extremely comfortable. It was beginning to show its age a little (which is why I've subtracted one star) -- particularly the sofa and throw pillows, which were pretty stained and worn -- but it was very clean and well-kept. The master bathroom, and the shower in particular, was excellent, and having a guest bathroom was also very convenient. I was concerned that the forward-facing balcony would be too windy to use while the ship was at sea, but we ended up loving it. The design of the railings makes the wind tolerable when laying on the two loungers. In short, we really loved this cabin, and I've already booked it again for a sailing this coming June.
