Way too many problems on this ship with the service and information provided. See all the my comments about the various aspects in the other sections of this review. It is quite likely that I will never sail on an NCL ship again, nor out of New York City.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
We got multiple messages about our embarkation being delayed. We had to call NCL at least 3 times to get the same answer twice. One guy's answer wasn't even close!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Crepes in the buffet were great at night! Specialty dining was especially good. Too bad you have to pay that much extra to get better food and some level of service.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Mini-golf course was closed at 5pm virtually every night for repairs? Huh? Why not wait until 10 or 11, then start. Two of the water slides were closed most of the cruise for maintenance. The ship had just come off a repositioning move from Europe, why couldn't they do it then when no one would be using them in colder northern Atlantic Ocean?
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Too hard to get into most venues as they are so small and the people "in the know" book them in advance. The dance ensemble is quite talented. Burn the Floor was nonstop action.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Waiters were the worst I've ever experienced in my cruising life. Didn't know anything about the menu. Could tell us if we could substitute things. Forgot to bring appetizers or other items in the meal, brought coffee cups but never filled them. At least 2 hours for any given meal. The room stewards were good and some of the few who actually smiled or said hello. Wondering if there was some sort of job action brewing. Guest services was no help a lot of the times. Zero information provided about the disembarkation process. We got multiple messages about our embarkation being delayed. We had to call NCL at least 3 times to get the same answer twice. One guy's answer wasn't even close!
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The overall design is poor; cleanliness is good. Too many of the upper decks obstructed by the Vibe or the Haven areas or other things in the way. Smell of smoke permeates a lot of the areas inside the ship as it did my 10th floor balcony. Various venues are too small causing numerous people not to be able to get to see shows they wanted to.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The bathroom with full shower and double sink was great.
Ship tip
Don't get on...find a reason to cancel. Book everything you can before getting on and immediately as you get on.
Only thing preventing a 5 star is that parts of the island and beaches are still recovering from the hurricanes of 2018. Beaches are still beautiful, though.
Worst ever. Absolutely no information given to the general public about the process. Disembarkation was happening and no one on the 8th, 9th, 10th, etc floors ever knew it as no announcements were made. Having a colored tag didn't seem to make any difference, especially since no announcements about anything were made. People stacked up in the hallways, staircase, lobbies, etc. all complaining about the lack of info. Getting through customs was easy, though, I must say.
