Have cruised a lot on Carnival\, royal Caribbean but was our first time on Norwegian. Must say very disappointed with overall experience. Apart from the breakaway ship being brand new and in great shape\, almost everything else was a very sub par experience compared to all other cruise lines including even Carnival which says a lot !!! It feels like it is a one big money milking operation and almost everything on board is something you have to pay for in addition to your ticket price once on board. Read my comments on food and entertainment below for details.

Pros: Almost Brand new ship - Great condition

Cons: Almost everything on board is something you have to pay for - money milking machine

Recommends Norwegian Breakaway? No.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
There are three non-premium (included in the ticket price) restaurants and almost dozen specialty (you have to pay to dine)restaurants. I think Norwegian purposely keeps the choices and quality of their free restaurents low so you don't have a choice but to dine in specialty restaurents and pay extra. Even late night Pizza you have to pay $5 for !!!!
Cabin / Stateroom
since breakaway is a brand new ship\, rooms were in good shape and no complaints there.
Service and Staff
Over all not bad but I have seen much better staff elsewhere.
Entertainment
Almost every show was worthless !!! I think Budget for entertainment at Norwegian must be too low to be able to afford better show and performers. Once again\, I think focus of Norwegian is to save money on things they can not charge on (such as entertainment) and keep it as low quality as possible to make more money for themselves. To add insult to injury\, they offer better entertainement but that is something you have to pay for. So once you are bored out of your mind for 3 to four nights in a row\, you give up and start paying for paid nightly shows or hit the bars which are y expensive as well.
