Great cruise! However, DO NOT buy the unlimited go cart pass! Total waste of money!! The line waits were long and races were stopped often. I recommend signing up max 2-3 times for the entire cruise.
Worst cruise experience to date, though it wasn't horrible. Probably won't look at NCL cruises again though, but mostly because I didn't like the design of the ship nor the general ship philosophy. Never once saw the captain, didn't get the sense that the crew really wanted me to have a great experience.
we were very happy to book the Bliss. It is a beautiful ship and will look forward to another cruise someday. The organization of the embarkation and debarkation was horrendous. No planning at all. The port, Seattle was canceled the night before, which caused a HUGE mess for us and many others who scheduled tours in Seattle, we had 2 scheduled, although they were not through NCL we lost 300.00 on the tours since they needed a 24 hour notice. NCL did give a $100 credit to each room, but that was not enough. many many passengers were very upset, and quite a few said they would not book NCL again. I do not feel that way, we love NCL and will be planning more cruises
Good experience on board the ship/poor planning at ports
Sail date: /
Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss
/ Destination: Coastal - West Coast
In summary it was a great experience onboard. Beautiful scenery everyday and every port. A little disappointed with Norwegian’s planning at the ports and the fact that we were unable to go to Seattle. I gave them some slack because this is a repositioning Cruise, but the fact remains I spent real dollars for their cruise services. I feel like they under delivered on ports and the number of days sold. The late boarding in Vancouver combined with the half day off ship for customs in San Francisco made our 6 day cruise a 4 1/2 day cruise.
This cruise was everything it should be. The cruise director was informative and entertaining. The daily updates with the schedule were incredibly helpful. Relaxing, entertaining, fun: a trip to remember!
Disappointed not to see Ketchikan, very few shows and entertainment, too many Specialty restaurants, slow service; not enough variety in food and entertainment. terrible casino; expensive amenities and shopping. I have been on several NCL cruises and this was the first negative one. I have taken over 35 cruises on various Cruise lines and have lost count.
We had a great time regardless of any of my negative reviews. We loved having the beverage package and the food was great and Alaska was a fun and exciting place to go. I've never been anywhere like it and so different from the typical Carribean vacation. Great time.
Great cruise, will be back!!!! This Alaskan Cruise was everything I wanted. Great ship, Great crew. Food was good. We really enjoyed the cruise shows 6 and The Jersey Boys. I have only 2 issues, the buffet food was good but sometimes not hot enough and the bed(mattress) was hard.
Would probably do this cruise again but would certainly go with a different cruise line. The overall cruise was great with what we saw. The weather held out and we had no rain in all ports of call. The vistas we saw in Alaska were unbelievable. Specialty restaurants rule the roost on NCL and they will give you better foods and entertainment but you have to pay for it. Musicians had limited venues to play from, mostly near bars or specialty restaurants. Atrium was used for game shows instead of the main theatre. No extra shows in them other than the broadway shows which were good. We love country music but the only venue for country was a specialty restaurant. We either had to sit at a very small bar on a bar stool and order something to drink or to sit in comfort at a table had to order and pay for a meal. Sad! We don't drink but for those that do there are 22 bars in all parts of the ship to quench your thirst. Can't bring pop or even a small bottle of water on board. They want you to buy. Beers go for up to $10 and mixed drinks up to $15 and the drinks were pushed.
The food was ok but nothing to write home about. We didn't use the main dining rooms a lot because when we did we did not have good experiences with the quality of the meals(tough steaks and bland salmon). No lobster unless you went to the upscale specialty restaurants and paid a surcharge.
Awful, our vacation was ruined. Ship was over crowded, never less than 45 min wait for restaurants, all specialty restaurants were booked the first hour on board. Food was only good at the French restaurant. Buffet food always cold, but most of the time the only place you could get into. I think they added more rooms without increasing the size of any of the common areas. I was pushed and shoved repeatedly by unsupervised young people.
