The Bliss have everything you can ask for, for an Alaskan cruise. The observation deck and water front provides optimal Glacier viewing and throughout the cruise. On board activities and entertainments were top notch. Though we did a lot of walking up and down the stairs by choice, we didn’t really have any issues getting on the elevators when needed either. Along with the nice things to say about the Bliss there are some things that we thought were lacking on this ship. The main dining rooms staff/servers were not very efficient and food presentation and taste needs some attention. “Freestyle Cruising” theme by Norwegian is very misleading. You pretty much have to make reservations for the things you want to do and see others wise you’ll find yourself waiting on long standby lines. You can expect a 20 to 30 minutes wait even if you’re in front of the line on the main dining rooms if didn’t plan ahead of time. That said, we still had a wonderful and memorable time on board the Norwegian Bliss on our cruise to Alaska.

Got at the port at 1:15 pm and walked right in.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We were not very impressed with all three main dining rooms. Food presentation and taste were lacking, and cold most of the time. However the Garden buffet prime rib and seafood dinner were awesome.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Fun and always have plenty to do.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Jersey Boys was awesome, Havana, Liverpool Beatles, game shows, and the comedy shows were fun and very entertaining. The International talent show with cruise staff appearance was nicely done.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The main dining staffs were disorganized and service were considerably slow compared to other cruise liners with the same passenger capacity or any other cruise ship we’ve been on. Empty water glasses during the whole dinner and had to ask twice for coffee after dinner and so on. However our room steward and all others were awesome.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
A little wear and tear starting to show on sofa/couches all around the common areas but other wise the whole ship still new and very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
A bit lacking the storage space and shelvings, other wise comfortable for us. My wife loves the bath room layout.
Ship tip
Always keep a camera or binocular handy when you’re out and about the water front, observation deck and pool deck, we spotted whales on the way to Juneau and on the way to Victoria.
Went on the Klondike Summit, Suspension Bridge, Salmon Bake excursion. Got to enjoy the beauty of Alaska and Canada and ended the tour with Alaskan style salmon bake. Then walked around Skagway before getting back on the ship.
Didn’t go on any excursions since we were scheduled to arrive after 8pm. We actually arrived a little bit earlier because we skipped Ketchikan all together. Got on a bus to the city did some shopping and plenty of time to walk around before heading back to the ship. Clean and very beautiful city.
Went on the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest. Got to experience and enjoy Mendenhall Glacier up close. Then board a catamaran to Stephens Passage. Saw lots of whales, no breaching but lots of tails. We fully enjoyed this excursion.
