Review summary
I read so many reviews about the Bliss and was a little worried. I loved it and one of my most fun cruises. We sailed the first week in Jan. These are my pros & cons. Total of 9 of us. (2 Solo cabins, 2 balconies, 1 Minisuite). Cons: *They changed the price of the go-cart week pass from $99 to $199. I didn't like that very much. I was not told the price at the time of sign up, did not sign a little paper or anything. I just noticed on my bill a few days later. I complained two times in the week but told no refunds. They got me this time! --------------- *I could not use my USB movie stick in the room TV to watch some movies sometimes. it would not let me change the input.... totally locked down and hard to reach in the back even if I wanted to use the USB for charging electronics. Not a big deal. --------------- *Internet was a little slow but much faster than past NCL ships. I got 30 minutes free for Platinum Status. That is all I needed. Free fast internet at the ports. ------------- *We only did one Bingo at the final Bingo. $49 for 9 squares. No more 3 squares sold so that is a big increase. The prizes were not very high considering the smallest package was removed. A lot of people playing. Past cruisers get a bottle of Champagne per room. That means we got 5 bottles. Would be nice to have the options of red/white wine to help with variety. First world problems. :) ------------- *It is a little game we play with NCL to get my bill as high as possible and I work to keep my bill as low as possible. Up to me to be charged for what I want. I did not feel nickel and dimed. They could complain about me for nickel and diming them! :) - - Pro's: Embarkment and Disembarkment was fantastic. Got to the port at 2pm without a line and left the ship at 7:40am with walking off my bags ourselves. ------ *Food was wonderful, 4 specialty rest. and 3 main dining. All amazing. We ate at the buffet for breakfast, lunch, pre-dinner nibbles, and post-dinner snack. ----- *Staff was fantastic. These people do their best to help you and be happy. Not one jerk or issue. -------- *Elevators were busy during peak times. No different than any other cruise. The difference is you need to walk up many more flights of stairs when using the stairs. Please note: you need to press both elevator buttons a few feet away (setup by 2 banks of 4). If you only press one then you are waiting for only 4 elevators rather than the full 8. I learned that on the Epic & Gataway so this was the same. ---------- *The Go Carts were so much fun! Can't tell you how surprised and fun it was. These went fast after a few practices runs each session. We got 3 weekly passes and the rest of my group did not have any issues getting on in the evening time without reservations. It was busy during the day with 10 riders per session but night time was best with only 5-7 riders per session. Less congestion and more fun. Weekly passes went up to $199 a week. I went on about 20 times and the other 2 passes in my family went 30 times. The best time and most fun were after dinner every night, 9:00-11pm. ---------- *Cruise director Silus was amazing, funny and so much fun. I got called up to Deal or No-Deal. Loved it and so exciting. I won $599. We only did one Bingo at the final Bingo. $49 for 9 squares. No more 3 squares sold so that is a big increase. The prizes were not very high considering the smallest package was removed. A lot of people playing. ----- *We had the drinks package, service was fast and not an issue. If one bar was busy we walked down a few feet to the next bar. ------------ *The local had really good food 24 hours a day and a great view of the large stage/LED screen for shows. ------- *Observation deck 15th floor was quiet and looked great. -------- *I did not go in the pool or sit to sunbath but used the hot tubs all the time. No issues there. ------------- *I really wanted to do the water slides but so busy doing other things we did not get to it the whole week. Fun to watch as we walked by. --------- *The spa was amazing but expensive. We waited until port days to get 25% off which made it reasonable. Happy to see they changed the bill wording from 20% "service charge" back to 20% "gratuity" to avoid any confusion. ------------ --------- I am so grateful to have had a great week on the beautiful Bliss. Thank you NCL for putting up with me and my family.Embarkation
