This was only my third cruise. I've been on a Royal Caribbean cruise (Western Caribbean) and Silja (Stockholm to Helsinki). There were aspects to this cruise that were outstanding. The food was far better than Royal (five stars). Dinners were great (except the President's meal - great presentation, but a little too "foo foo" to really enjoy.) Breakfast was good but slow. We waited 30 minutes for one breakfast to arrive at the table, 45 minutes for another. Overall though, the meals were excellent. And the chocolate midnight buffet was outstanding. With multiple stations, there was no waiting. Not like Royal that had over an hour wait in line. The service was fantastic. We were very pleased with our waiter, busboy and cabin steward. We had a suite and were pleasantly surprised by all of the little extras. The entertainment was mixed. The bands were great. The main entertainment was a little lacking in variety. Not as good as Royal. The comedians were funny (at least 2 out of 3 were). The dancing lessons were very good. The tendering was awful. A better process should be developed. First you wait in line to get a number, then you wait in line to get on the tender. Then you wait on the tender as they call more numbers to fill the tender. Then you wait on the tender more as they run an emergency drill and close the ship interior doors, then you wait on the tender as they tend to someone with a health problem. Count on losing 2-3 hours of shore time at each stop for the tendering. So, if you are looking for great food - yes I'd recommend this ship. If you are looking for good service, I'd recommend this ship. If you are looking for good entertainment (especially for adults 30+ years old) I'd recommend this ship. If you are looking to spend lots of time on shore, try a different ship that is smaller with a smaller hull that can dock and quickly empty and load.
