Having cruised many times including the Windstar and P&O Grand Princess, I was surprised and thrilled with my recent cruise on the s/s Norway. My wife and I chose it for a combination birthday and anniversary getaway. The cabin stewards and waiter/busboy staff were pleasant, friendly, and efficient. They were never intrusive or sullen. Food was creative, beautifully prepared and delicious...in fact, consistently better than that on the previously mentionned cruise lines. Though a large ship, we never found it difficult to find a secluded spot in the sun away from the crowd. Entertainment was first rate both in the sports illustrated lounge and the shows. The comedians (2) were actually funny! Even the stateroom was a pleasant surprise. We had a category A outside cabin and it was ENORMOUS with 2 beds, dressing table, refrigerator, full bathroom with tub/shower, and gobs of storage space. It's true that the older ships were built with larger cabins. Itineraries in St. Maartin, St. John, and St. Thomas were pretty standard for the industry in general. All told, the cruise proved a bargain which in an era of increasingly modern and fancy boats was a breath of fresh air. We will return soon!! (I only wish I had won one of the give away cruises so it could be sooner) Robert Weiss MD
