A Magical Trip by NancyP16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was beautiful. Everything was clean and well kept. The beds were incredibly comfortable and most of the time you never knew you were on water because the rocking was so minimal. The destinations were perfect and the tours terrific. They provided a great variety of things to do on land.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

a beautiful ship with great staterooms, equivalent to the best hotel rooms. food was wonderful, and we are gourmet diners. service complements the food. comfortable public areas and a great promenade deck. large swimming pools and many jacuzzis. very stable ship even in rough seas. round trip from new york is a plus even for those who do not live in this region.

A wonderful cruise by AndorS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was clean. Everyone was very concened about our welfare. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. There was no pressure to do anything or buy anything, just enjoy and relax. I enjoy an early morning walk, and there was not a designated area for this but thee were areas that were available, rather then feeling that you have to walk in a designated area, it was like apersonal choice of where you wanted to be. No one hussled you into activities. \i actually relaxed and that's not easy for me.

cruise from hell by Asndy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

the ship was glamorous and very well serviced but the problem with cruises is you are confined with other passengers so if the crowd is much older it can be no fun for younger people the same with having all couples, warning about such age groups should be given when purchasing a cruise as within the cruise community i am told that its well known what ships service what crowds

Great time by IlanaR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is very nice and modern. Everything was new and modern - flat screen tv's, new gym equipment, etc. Rooms weeer comfortable and larger than the average room on other ships. The downfall was the food - not great and the service wasn't as great as on celbrity for instance. However, it wsn't terrible. Could be due to fixed tips now. They automatically take out $10/day per person.

best cruise yet by TimS23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First off ship was huge and clean, very nice design. Thought it was cool that they had real antiques and other similar items displayed with info. plaques all over ship. Bigger ship than my last and held less people for a much less crouded ship. Felt alone at some times. NICE! Always they were reminding us to was hands and keep clean for saftey and to keep bacteria from travel with us, including having antibacterial hand cleaner all over the ship escpecialy in front of all the food areas and when you boarded the ship from a port. Outstanding! Then I had my first taste of the food for lunch at the lido bar. Which for a Lido deck buffet was Amazing! Ecspecially for this ship getting not so descent reviews on food I was amazed way better than my last cruise with Carnival. All the food was outstanding the buffets, in room breakfast, and all the way up to the night time dinning and the Pinnicle Grill (which is an extra charge and a must try at least once on this cruise) Everyone I know got a free meal voucher on our trip anyway. Very large selection and variety on menus, and if theres nothing you like order something different. Crew was impecable smiling all the way. Never forgetting your name and willing to do anything just about. Mostly Indonesian! Entertainment, shows and the entertainment director and crew were awesome always having something funny to say at the drop of a hat. Music was great and show. Great singers. Great ports. St. Martin was the best for me then Tortola. Good deals on St. Martin and Orient Bay Beach is a must for beach lovers and non lovers BEAUTIFUL! Take the Explorer excursion cheaper and what a deal you see a lot of oth sides of the Island and shop in Marigot a must and also get a great boat ride with music from a local singer AWESOME guy and free drinks. Tortola was beautiful aswwell just not as much to do. Grand Turk is nice but a very new port and needs a little work, but a nice relaxing port much less populated and over crowded and americanised than most other islands in that area. St. Thomas I didn't like to americanised if I want to eat at Mcdonalds 'll drive down the st. from my house and save money. Also to many people very crowded not clean and all the shops were duplicated a lot and within the same block usually. Traffic was horible. San Juan was nice again to americanised but better than St. Thomas. Go see the rain forest. Thats for the ports though. The ship though was gradn and fun needed a little more for younger couples to do but it wasn't boring at anytime. Just needs to keep going after 11:00 P.M. Great shops on bord and drinks were pretty cheap. Get the soda card if you drink soda opo it'll save you money. Ship had a bit more older retired people than I'm used to but there were still a good amount of younger newlywed types. All together outstanding ship. with great food, Service and shows. DOn't miss out on it. I think if enough younger couples read this and start using the Holland line of ships which is known for the older crowd can become the ships for all ages.

HAL's newest by GeorgeP7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Noordam is a beautiful and phenomenally immaculate vessel. From the teak decks to the gleaming public rooms, the ship is truly "eye candy". If you like a more sophisticated atmosphere afloat, Holland America is the line for you. The service is excellent, while understated. Wait staff is attentive, but not constantly hawking drinks as on many lines. From the Sports bar to the signature Crows Nest, this is a great cruising experience.

Beautiful new ship with a friendly crew. by LarryD8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Very nice public rooms, although there was too much smoke in the Sports Bar which drifted into the hallway and up to the Ocean Bar. Good control of the A/C in the cabins. Decent size verandanas, even in the lowest catagory. Great variety of food stations in the Lido restaurant and very extensive 24hr. room service menu with very prompt service.

Another Holland America fantastic cruise by DaleB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Since this was our second trip on the Noordam and we had a suite this time, the trip was just that much more enjoyable. The Holland America line certainly knows how to please it's guests. It is even starting to relax it's dining policies which is most appreciated.

The overall cruise was exceptional by PaulB19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This would have been the best cruise ever if it were not for the abysmal boarding experience in NY. However, everything that occurred after boarding was exceptional. The physical shape of the ship, the outstanding service from the entire crew, and the quality of the food were exceptional. We have never been on a cruise where all of the crew, including the maintenance workers and deck hands, always greeted us cordially wherever we were on the ship. This is a testament to the philosophy from from the top down.

Excellent Cruise by ChristineB2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

IWe enjoyed the ship as soon as we boarded. Noticing our spacious room and deck and the food offered at the buffet---lots of variety and lots of stations--from pasta pizza to Asian food to extensive salad bar and the buffet that offered something for everyone. They also had the usual hotdog and hamburg and FFries. Ice cream and yogurt almost around the clock and desserts galore---yum. Since my partner is a marathoner there was plenty of opportunity for all the exercise that he needed plus classes offered. The ship is just the right size in that it was not difficult to find our way around. I cannot say enough about the Indonesian and Philipino crew who are always most attentive. That has been my experience in the past and the tradition continues. Going out of NYC. is always exciting as there is so much to see before we leave the big apple. The ports of call offered something for everyone. Our most exciting excursions was one in Tortola BVI. where we swam with the sea turtles. And when I say we swam I mean it. They brushed against our bodies and we were able to gently pat their backs. AWESOME. The other memorable excursion was in Dominica where we went tubing down a river. You don't have to be in shape or svelte to do this. There were all kinds of people and varying age range and EVERYONE just loved it. Overall I can't say enough good about this exciting voyage of 11 days. I have been on Holland America numerous times and they are always and have been consistent in what I expect from a cruise--it exceeds my expectations. Christine Brooks

Great Cruise! First class ship! by MarilynT2

Sail date: /
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was beautiful! The cabins were very comfortable, the pool and spa area were very nice along with great dining rooms, and and lounges. The Noordam was a very large ship, but the passenger size was smaller so you could enjoy individual attention and no big crowds of people. This was our favorite part.
