I sailed on the Noordam of Holland America for the second time and it was great, I would not sail below this companys level. The only other 2 lines I want to try are Oceana and the Italian line

Very good.

It was just much bigger, with far too many people

the ship was decorated lovely for Christmas and the staff were quick to wish you a Merry Christmas which we loved. Having been on six "DAM" ships we expected great food. We were severly disappointed in the food. Many nights we could not eat the soup presented. We had table mates, and they too were horribly disappointed in the food. The main desk gal was surly when I asked about dining in the Pinnacle grille after recieving a gift certificate for the grille. We left a Christmas bonus for our cabin boys and never saw them again! I got sick and ordered room service and they sent what they felt like sending, not what I ordered. We definately would not go aboard the Noordam again.

Noordam is a well maintained about 2000 passenger ship with excellent onboard facilities. It was a very enjoyable 10 days. The on board activities had something for everyone. The ship kept to time and itinerary. No significant complaints but lots of praise.

The Noordam is a beautiful ship. Its venues are underused, however. They could/should have activities going in all these fabulous rooms every day--not just the lone "at sea" day. A no-smoking policy would be appreciated (their "suggested" smoking areas were only loosely adhered to--as was the "adults only" policy at the aft pool.)

The maintenance of this ship was continuous and exceptional. The crew made every effort to please all those who sailed with them. The only distraction was the smoke that one encountered and could not avoid in parts of the ship.

I loved the ship, very clean and well designed.

This ship is kept clean. The food was excellent. The ships crew goes above and beyond customer service. How they remember names is amazing. I would highly recommend this ship and will definately cruise again on it.

Being in our early 30's we thought we would be outnumbered by a lot of older folks. We were, however there were plenty of younger partiers on the ship which made it energetic and fun. The food was awesome and the ship itself was pristine. The balcony staterooms were large and spotless. Do listen to people on here complaining about the food. They are just being grumpy and should stay home next time.

Ship was very clean, nicely decorated and easy to find way around. Buffet was exceptional. Main dining room was good. Pinnacle Grill was excellent. Ship staff went the extra mile to make your stay exceptional. Good selection of excursions. Great ports of call.

The ms Noordam was grand, yet you felt very at home.

Your cruise to see the countries chosen, the cost of the excursions were more than the cost of the cruise for two people. Great cruise for the over 70 set.

The staff needs better instruction in cleanliness. Perhaps tired at end of contract, however cruise line should be aware of this and oversee the staff tasks instead of standing & watching guests.

Good food selection, great evening entertainment. Would have preferred an additional stopping port, e.g., Granada or Trinidad. Did not approve of stopping at a good shopping port on a Sunday when stores are only open 4 hours (Aruba). This did not permit us to take a land tour and also shop. Additionally, the stores, I wished to shop at were not open on Sunday. I was disappointed that the ACE Bridge group did not permit others to join in their games. I suggest, in the future, the ACE group only limit their morning lectures to their group and the afternoon/evening duplicate bridge sessions be open to their group first and then accommodate others on the ship that may want to play. If asked, they will say they did offer play to other walk-ins. However, the only walk-ins were permitted to play to fill out a table when there was enough room and equipment to have several other tables.

Very good ship

ship was nice but not very luxurious like other Holland America ships we been on, my husband was very sick 8 out of the 10 days cruise due to a severe cough that appears to be a epidemic around the entire ship, everybody was coughing on the buffet line and them touching the serving utensils, so base on that i can tell that my cruise on the Noordam was not enjoyable. Also they have a new system at the lido buffet that sucks, while my husband was sick i decide to skip dinner at the dinning room and went to the lido deck buffet for a quick bite and have stand on the line for 20 minute (while people were coughing all around me) to give my order to a guy standing on a podium in the middle of the line and them he ask me to sit a table and wait another 10 minute to get my food. so those are my only complaints. If you manage to stay out of the lido buffet i think you stand a good chance of having a nice vacation.

The only reason I would not recommend this ship is "the smoking." We have never been on a ship that has such smoking total areas. We could avoid but why should we be restricted to not listening to music we like because of "SMOKING." We did not use the Casino because of "SMOKING."
