It was a very boring 11 day cruise. The food was good. It seemed like we were always being bombarded with something to buy. The second day of the cruise many in my party bought cocktail drink cards being hussled with a vengenance. But when it came time to using it, the waiters always seemd annoyed. The bar wait staff was extremely slow and didn't seem to care if you ordered a drink or not. The specialty drinks were especially weak. On other cruiselines you can smell the rum coming. You couldn't taste it on this ship. Norwalk Virus was rampant on this ship BEFORE we boarded and no one was notified. They tried to act like it all started after the cruise began. But there was plenty of staff willing to tell the truth. The waiters in the Lido restaurant were helpful and friendly. My uncle was given a complementary bottle of wine as a resolution to a problem and when he brought it to drink with dinner (only in the cafe), he was told it would cost $15 for them just to open it. The entertainment was ok. DJ Glen played one set of pool games going and one set going back AND it was the same exact set of games! No other poolside activities. The outdoor band was poor at best. For the most part, we listened to music piped through speakers. I've never been on a ship that didn't have a calypso band to get everyone in the spirit. There was no spirit on this ship. I'll stick to Norwegian or Royal Caribbean.
EXTREMELY BORING CRUISE
Sail Date: January 01, 2008
Traveled As: Family (older children)
Pros: For the most part, the food was excellent. Our room steward was the best we've ever had on any cruise!
Cons: There weren't any real activities. "Coffee Chat" at 10:00 isn't my idea of an activity. Time passed very slowly at sea.
