We would definitely choose this ship again. I would assume that it would not appeal to a disco, heavy drinking crowd as the demographics were a more mature, refined crowd. However, we met several young couples and young families who chose it for that very reason. Not sure about the new "OPEN SEATING" It was convenient when you took a tour and didn't have to rush for dinner. However, a good humorous waiter can be a pleasant addition to the cruise and with open seating you have a different waiter each time.

Food and Dining

We felt food wasn't quite as good as other Holland American ships we"ve sailed on. Quite an Asian influence on seasonings and mainy foods seemed overly salted.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were surprised at the cost of some educational courses as they have been free on other cruises. Shows were good but expected 3 big musical shows on an 11 day cruise. There were only 2.

Service and Staff

Ever staff member we came in contact with was wonderful and always smiling. Captain Hans Mateboer was a charming and always willing to chat if you met him in the hallways. Never experienced a Capt. so visible. It was delightful.
was delightful!

Really loved the new Bedding and linens. Additional hangers in closets would be appreciated.

Pros: Ship's elegance..not glitzy! Cap't. & crew a delight! A wonderful relaxing cruise.

Cons: Main show accoustics were too loud. Food a little too Asian inspired.

Recommends Noordam? Yes!
