We sailed on the Noordam in January '02 and found that, although the ship is old, the crew does their best to maintain it. The boarding was a nightmare, but not because the ship was at fault - Tampa was fogged in and the ship was delayed getting into port. There were some problems with the public toilets during the cruise but they were always repaired within a reasonable length of time. Our cabin was spacious, extremely clean and very well maintained. The ports were great, with some exceptions.We certainly thought that the food was above average, nicely presented and well served. We were very fortunate with our table arrangements - three other couples who were interesting, well mannered and a joy to be with. The staff was always polite and very willing to help where they could but didn't volunteer to assist you. Although I agree that the ship does have its problems, I also regard it as an extremely good value.We are considering repeating the cruise next winter. Jo in Springfield, Illinois
