Review summary

Had we known this ship was for an older retired demographic we would not have booked it. It was only our second cruise and we did not expect this. However it was nice to be on a cruise with zero kids on board. So if that’s something you are looking for than this is the cruise for you.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We had an awful experience at one of the paid restaurants.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not many activities at all.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The only thing we found entertaining was only one of the two comedians.

Children's Programs

We did not bring any children. If we did there would have been nothing for the As the ship catered to a much older demographic

Wonder if this is via the World Travel Holdings online booking companies (like CruisesOnly or Marriott)? Which would explain why she had a "bad" experience. And one bad experience in a specialty restaurant out of 21 possible meals (not counting snacks and in-between meals) means the whole dining is ho-hum?

We love HAL and cruise them when we can. Time and research goes a long way when finding the right line for you!

Saying I did not expect seniors on Holland is like saying I went to McDonald's and was surprised to see hamburgers on the menu... Fortunately, I like seniors and plan to be one some day.

If you like cruises without children but younger demographics, try Virgin Cruise Line. No one under 18 allowed on their ships.

Thanks for the review. It’s always important to research the cruise line / ship you are considering. Holland America, Princess & Celebrity generally have older passengers. Try Carnival for a younger crowd and more of a party atmosphere or Royal Caribbean / NCL for activities related more towards families / a variety of ages.
