issues with food quality and service

Sail Date: September 14, 2014

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

Previously, we cruised with Carnival and thought the atmosphere of all the carnival activities was a bit much BUT the food and the service in the restaurants was fabulous. In contrast to Royal Caribbean's food quality and service and the attitude of some of the servers was very disappointing. We were told that IF we had chosen the early dinner time, our food would have been better. That information came from the Maitre 'd in our section of the restaurant. There was never a meal that we didn't have to send food back to the kitchen.

Upon boarding the ship, we were left on our own to find our state rooms and this was across the board on ship and even made a joke on stage at entertainment.

All-in-all, I don't think we will cruise with RC again.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
food was inferior, cold or luke warm, very small portions, and reminded me of cafeteria food.
Service and Staff
Entertainment
Children's Programs na
Onboard Activities
If you consider back to back trivia in the bars or swimming in dirty pools "ok".
Destinations and Excursions
We made our own reservations for excursions
Cabin / Stateroom
But did not look anything like the picture above. Our cabin steward was amazing.
Galveston, Texas
Cozumel, Mexico
Take time to enjoy the entire city if possible instead of just wandering the shops.
Falmouth, Jamaica
The mall built by RC was nice but a bit expensive and you don't get to enjoy the true culture of Jamaica

Tip

Eat ONLY at the buffet in the Windjammer and the Cafe on the Promenade. Learn a second language to be able to speak to the people on the ship. Take your own cards and games.
