Review summary

we had waited about six months for this cruise. the cruise itself was everything we had hoped for. The ship is beautiful. The staff was always helpful. i am sure we will sail on MSC again. the only question we could not get answered, was that the couple we travel on the cruises with, had received their gold card at the terminal. we have the same platinum cards from carnival, and had preregistered to have our cards upgraded, there's was and ours was not. we were sent to guest relations, but they did not offer any help at all. we have been platinum on Carnival for quite a while and was told that we did have what was needed to get the upgrade? Please advise us if we still need to fo something on this end. Thank You.

it was slow due to an accident at the terminal earlier in the day. before we had arrived.

we had heard that the dining room was spacious and the tables not on top of one another, this was not the case. the tables were just about on top of one another.

room steward was very good, we never did get his name, Room 12036 dining room first night was very slow (time was over one and a half hours. this did get better as the week went on.

remember to book your shows in advance--- and ask for ice with your diner water, because it won't be at your table.

The match should be accomplished before cruising. Simply doing it on line isn't the same as following through with your status match request.

I found it is easier to call MSC customer service .The folks there answer right away unlike some other cruise lines and they are more than willing to help you. I had the lady merge my points form one cruise line to MSC just took me one phone call she even discovered I was eligible for a discount through the my new status and she gave it to me on that call.

We also status matched a month earlier to Gold and got free champagne and pictures at the "past guest" party, priority boarding, a free birthday cake and 20% off photos and a backpack. I thought it was a nice gesture.

Did you fill out their Status Match Request online at least a week or two before you sailed with them? And if so, did they respond to your request? I’m Platinum on Carnival also, I did all that online, so MSC bumped me to their gold level - which really doesn’t get you very much, in my opinion. You will get 5% off your future cruise fare if you book directly through them. And I’ve received a couple of those cloth “backpacks” that have the MSC logo. I agree with you that MSC is a nice brand to sail with. *Ocean Cay is awesome!!! *
